2024 NYSNA Labor Education Training Series

The NYSNA Labor Education Department provides a wide array of workshops and training opportunities. We encourage members to request in-person trainings for their facilities throughout the year (contact labored@nysna.org) but we also have a calendar of online Zoom trainings for our most requested topics

Registration is only through July 2024. For the Labor Education trainings from August 2024 through March 2025 please fill out this form where we will track your interest. We will confirm your attendance starting late Spring.

We are offering a Zoom version of our Leader Training * in Spring and Fall 2024. The Leader Training has long been a resource for nurses who want to build union power, advocate for their patients, and make positive changes in their workplace. Members can do all four parts or mix and match whichever topics are most relevant to your needs.

· Leader Training Part 1: The Responsibilities of Leaders to Advocate for Themselves and Their Patients

· Leader Training Part 2: Using Representational Rights Under Law and the Contract to Improve Working Conditions

· Leader Training Part 3: Organizing for Collective Advocacy to Build Unity and Engage the Healthcare Worker Community

· Leader Training Part 4: Advocating for Healthcare Workers’ and Patients’ Needs Through Effective Campaigns and Contractual Committees

We are also offering a series of standard trainings on Zoom. Click here for a description of each topic . All sessions are 90 minutes and are interactive and practice based.

*NYSNA is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation and the International Accreditors of Continuing Education and Training. Each part of the Leadership Training program has been awarded 3.0 CHs/0.3 CEUs. In order to receive CHs/CEUs, all participants are required to attend the entire program, complete all assignments, complete an evaluation and post-program test.
