Insights from Israel: National Holidays in Wartime

Thu / May 9 / 12:30 pm / Online

Rabbis Michael Graetz and Tzvi Graetz and Michal Abramoff

As we experience Israel’s national holidays of Yom Hashoa, Yom Hazikaron, and Yom Ha’atzmaut during a time of active war, we will discuss how these days of memorial and celebration will be honored differently this year.

Rabbi Michael Graetz was one of the founders of the Masorti movement in Israel, and has served as a rabbi for many years, including as an IDF chaplain during the Yom Kippur War and as president of the Rabbinical Assembly of Israel. He also served as Interim Rabbi at Park Avenue Synagogue.

Rabbi Tzvi Graetz is the rabbi at Congregation Ner Tamid in Southern California. He previously served as rabbi of Kehilat Hod Ve-Hadar in Kfar Saba in Israel, and as Executive Director of Masorti Olami and MERCAZ Olami, which are international organizations of Conservative Judaism.
