Dog Man Little Free Library

Apply for a custom Dog Man Library:

Scholastic and the Little Free Library (LFL) nonprofit organization are excited to announce their "Power Up with Reading" initiative to grant Dog Man
themed Little Free Library book-sharing boxes to sites catering to children and families across all 50 United States. Dog Man author Dav Pilkey, in coordination with Scholastic and Little Free Library, will donate 50,000 books to support these libraries and help ignite a passion for reading.

U.S. organizations serving kids are invited to complete the application below to be considered to receive one of 50 custom Dog Man Little Free Library book-sharing boxes. Elementary Schools, childcare facilities, and community centers are strongly encouraged to apply. 

Each package includes:

  • Fully-assembled, custom Dog Man library (see photos)
  • Standard charter sign
  • Wooden post kit for outdoor installation OR a set of legs for indoor installation
  • Roughly 1,000 new Scholastic books (sent in one shipment)
  • Bundle of Dog Man swag - details TBD
  • Steward's Guide and support materials

Expectations:

  • You must be able to install the Little Free Library no later than September 30, 2024.
  • You must be able to receive and store 1,000 books (will likely be sent via pallet).
  • Set up a steward account (if you do not already have one).
  • Add the library location and photo to the Little Free Library map.
  • Share photos and details about your community upon installation.
  • Credit and tag Little Free Library and our partners when sharing on social media or in the news. As the installation deadline nears, our team will provide you with sample language, appropriate tags, etc. so the process is as turnkey as possible. 
  • Respond to all follow-up communications from Little Free Library and Scholastic as needed.

Before applying...

Review the following.  Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be eligible.
  1. Library location and shipping address must be in the United States.
  2. Applicant must be 18 years or older.
  3. Applicant must be a local person responsible for and with regular access to the library.
  4. Applicant must have permission to apply on behalf of the organization.
  5. Applicant must have a confirmed library location with all necessary permissions/permits.

  1. I will install the library no later than September 30, 2024.
  2. I will set up a steward account and complete the library registration.
  3. I will add the library’s location and photo to the Little Free Library world map.
  4. I will share photos and details about my community upon installation.
  5. I will credit the Little Free Library and related partners when sharing on social media or in the news.
  6. I will respond to all follow-up communications from Little Free Library and Scholastic as needed.
  7. I will acknowledge that Little Free Library® and its logo are registered trademarks of LFL, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  LFL grants Impact grant recipients revocable, non-transferable permission to use our trademarked name and logo to promote our collaborative activities through their communication channels and promotional materials.  When using LFL's marks, Impact grant recipients must state "Little Free Library® and its logo are registered trademarks of Little Free Library, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and are used with its permission.” Impact grant recipients may not alter LFL's trademark or logo, use it to raise funds, sell goods or services or otherwise claim a direct affiliation with LFL without the express, written permission of LFL in advance.
