The Oakland REACH and Oakland Unified School District are partnering to recruit and train our community to make sure students have access to high-quality Math and Literacy Tutoring.
We are running a paid fellowship this summer to prepare tutors to be powerful leaders and educators in OUSD schools. No previous tutoring experience is required!
Therefore, all applicants should fully intend to become tutors through this process and will need to:
(1) be eligible to work in the U.S.,
(2) be 18 years or older,
(3) speak, read, write and understand English fluently,
(4) have a High School diploma or GED equivalent,
(5) be able to pass a background check, and
(6) be willing to be placed at the school site with the most need.
Fellows are selected after applying and participating in an in-person interview. As part of the interview, applicants must take and pass an assessment in math or literacy- the subject area they want to tutor.
Fellowship participants develop tutoring skills, build their leadership skills, and receive support onboarding as tutors in OUSD. As part of the Fellowship, all Fellows apply for tutoring positions in an OUSD school. OUSD makes hiring decisions.
Spots in the Fellowship are limited so please apply as soon as possible! We are reviewing applications as they are received and scheduling interviews. Interviews begin in May at The Oakland REACH office
