IR Residency Practicum




One of the most popular sessions held during the IR Residency Practicum since its inception, focuses on learning from complications.  For this session, we ask for all residents attending the meeting to submit a case complication.  The top 3 cases will receive recognition and prizes.


Please make sure that you mask any patient identifying information in your images and adhere to HIPAA compliance.

Case Complication Submission Guidelines:

  1. Case Complication submissions will be uploaded within the form below. You must submit your case no later than Friday, May 17, 2024.
  2. Please ensure that your presentation includes no more than 8-15 Microsoft PowerPoint slides 
  3. If you are using videos in your presentation, please make sure that the videos can be played using available multimedia software and also include fixed images for backup. 
  4. The top three cases will be selected by a faculty member and will be announced during the related session at the Practicum. The winners will receive a small prize from SIR. 
  5. Listed below is a set of guidelines that you may use when creating your presentation. This is not meant to be a rigorous format just suggested guidelines so you may deviate from the order below if you wish.
    1. Slide One: Chief complaint and history of present illness.
    2. Slide Two: Relevant past medical and surgical history, drugs, and allergies. 
    3. Slide Three- Five: Non-invasive imaging.
    4. Slide Six: Diagnosis 
    5. Slide Seven- Nine: Intervention
    6. Slide Ten: Summary 
The Society of Interventional Radiology will have the non-exclusive rights to retain a copy of your PowerPoint presentation and use it and/or sell it in any manner on a royalty-free basis. 


The PowerPoint presentation that is submitted may be utilized to produce an online educational activity for trainees to access. The recordings may be made available within the SIR Learning Center, where SIR members and nonmembers can view the presentations.

Please note that this agreement is merely a non-exclusive license, giving SIR permission to use your presentation; it does not in any way transfer ownership of this intellectual property to us and does not in any way restrict your ability to use or profit from the intellectual property in the future.
