We're especially interested in work with:

  • Meaningful involvement of people with lived experience in the leadership of the organisation, and the delivery of work and campaigns.
  • Organisations whose staff teams and governing boards reflect the diverse range of people affected by economic and social injustice in London.
  • Strong awareness of the interconnected causes of economic and social injustice, and that takes an intersectional approach in addressing them. An intersectional approach means that people with a different range of identities - particularly from multiple marginalised groups - are included in work so that voices are heard.
  • A collaborative approach.
  • Alliances and capacity-building efforts. This might look like work that builds opportunities to work across sectors with ‘unusual suspects’, new allies and creative partners. It may mean work between specialists and non-specialists, for example, the delivery of specialist advice in community settings.
  • A clear plan to campaign for policy change, locally or nationally.
  • Long term impact.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We are committed to fostering diverse, equitable and inclusive communities across London. As part of this, we ask all organisations applying for funding to respond to three standard DEI questions. This helps us better understand who is applying for our support and the communities that may benefit.

For more information about why we collect this data and how it is used, please see link to the document HERE, which also includes guidance on completing this section of the form.

1. Tell us more about the people or communities who are benefiting from the project.

We want to know if the people your work is supporting are in a particular location or share a particular identity or experience. And if they do, we would like to know what those identities are.

By this we mean, that the majority (e.g. more than half) of the people who your project or work is focused on share a particular identity or experience.

You can choose more than one category.

Example

If the majority of the people you are supporting are African-Caribbean female refugees, you would:

Answer Yes to Communities experiencing racial inequalities and select “Black / African / Caribbean / Black British” and then select Caribbean.

Answer Yes to “Migrants” and then select “Refugees”

Answer Yes to “Women and girls” and select “Women”

2. Tell us more about your organisation

We would like to understand more about who your organisation is set up to support. By this, we mean any specific groups or communities that your organisation is dedicated to serving. This may be referenced in your governing documents, strategy or public facing materials.

3. Tell us more about your leadership

We would like to understand more about the leadership of your organisation and how it relates to your mission and the people and communities that you serve. We are interested in whether most of the people who make decisions or lead in your organisation share a specific identity or experience.

For this question, we count an organisation as 'led by and for' when

  • over 75% of your board of trustees/ management committee AND
  • over 50% of your more senior or management staff

identify as being from a specific community and/ or sharing the same identities and experiences.

Please answer the questions to the best of your knowledge.  This will help us identify project or organisations led “by and for” the communities experiencing the issues that the organisation is dedicated to and working on.

We recognise that this doesn’t tell us about wider diversity within the leadership of an organisation or significant proportions of leadership teams consisting of other identities or experiences that fall below these thresholds. We have included an open text box for you to provide us with any other information you feel might be relevant.

Example

If your leadership consists of over 75% young people with disabilities, they would fall under two categories. You would:

Select “young people” and then select “people with disabilities” and then select the specific impairment, if appropriate.
