2024 Reelworld Directors Immersion Program

Keep in mind that:
  • All fields marked with an asterisk (*) on the application are required.
  • This opportunity is only open to Black, Indigenous and People of Colour Directors.
  • Review the full application before filling it out, the form must be completed in one sitting. You will be required to list references and a 1-minute video about your goals for the program. 
  • You will receive a confirmation email after you have submitted your application.

Access Reelworld

In order to start your application, you must be a member of Access Reelworld. If you do not have a profile, please create one and share the link to your profile below. 

The Reelworld Directors Immersion Program, in partnership with NBCUniversal, is an opportunity for emerging directors to take part in a 4-month training initiative. 4-6 selected participants will take part in virtual and in-person training sessions. The purpose of the program is to help the participants gain directing credits for their resumes, to build relationships with industry professionals, and to learn how to navigate a successful career in the Canadian screen industries. After the training, the participants will have an opportunity to apply to shoot content for Reelworld, including testimonials from other participants and stakeholders, covering the 2024 Reelworld Film Festival and Summit, and directing the Reelworld Awards presentation. 


Program Dates: August - November 2024


Selected participants will:

    1. Take part in a designated Face2Face networking event to meet producers, showrunners and agents
    2. Attend the 2024 DGC Awards in October
    3. Have the opportunity to direct and shoot footage of Reelworld events including the Reelworld Film Festival Virtual Awards Presentation
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
  • Applicants must be Black, Indigenous, South Asian, East Asian, or a Person of Colour 
  • Participants must be Canadians based in the GTA
  • Applicants must be between 18-30 years old
  • Participants must be available to participate in virtual meetings once a week
  • Participants must submit a demo reel of work
  • Applicants must be available to take part in in-person sessions in October/November
