Access Statement

 

Please read the information below for an outline of the application process.

 

This application form may take up to 30 minutes to complete depending on your request. The form covers your eligibility for the bursary, registering to Creative Access’s website (if not done so already), key information about you, bursary details and a written personal statement.  You have the option to upload alternative formats such as video and audio files to support your application.

Declarations

Please use the checklist below to confirm your eligibility for the Creative Access Career Development Bursary. You must answer the following questions truthfully; the information you provide may be verified and if anything you declare is incorrect you will not be considered for bursary funding.

 

To be eligible for this bursary you must:

  • Be 18 years old or above
  • Be eligible to work in the UK
  • Have a UK bank account in your name
  • Identify as being from an under-represented group in the creative industries. This includes, but is not limited to, Black, Asian and ethnically diverse candidates, disabled people, those undergoing gender reassignment / transitioning and individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Have an aspiration to work in or to develop your career in the creative economy (this encompasses any role in the creative industries, or creative roles in other sectors e.g. design, marketing, branding)
  • Be able to demonstrate financial need (please do not apply if you are not in need of financial relief/support, or have savings over £5000)
  • Be able to use the bursary funding by 29th August 2025 (please note that funding will not be awarded to successful applicants until January 2025; we cannot consider funding any costs prior to this date)

Part 1: Statement
Please answer the following questions explaining what your bursary application is for, how it will be used, why it is not available by other means and how the funded item(s) will help develop your career in the creative economy.

We encourage you to be specific about how the bursary will help progress your career e.g., if you're developing a new skill, why is that important for your career?

Alternatively you can provide a video personal statement by stating in the field below, ‘please see video statement’. The video should be no longer than 2 minutes. Please send your submission to tinu@creativeaccess.org.uk, with ‘Your First and Last Name_Video Statement_CDB 2024’ in the subject heading. Acceptable file types include: mp3, .mp4, .mov, .wav, .avi, .mpg

Part 2: Evidence of itemised costs

Provide a breakdown what you would use the bursary to fund and itemise the expected costs. If using the bursary to cover several costs such as training with accommodation and travel, please itemise the different elements. Your costs should match the total bursary amount indicated in the previous question. Where possible, please provide a direct weblink(s) to evidence costs of the item(s) that you would use the funding for.

If you are unable to evidence the cost of an item via a direct weblink, you can also share images, videos or audio recordings with us via a Google Drive or Dropbox link (if doing so, please ensure that your settings allow access to external accounts).

Part 3: Eligibility

Under the Data Protection Act 1998, we have a legal duty to protect any personal information we collect from you.


We will only use personal information you supply to us for the reasons that you provided it for. We will only hold your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil that purpose. We will not pass your information to any other parties unless this is made clear to you at the time you supplied it.
