The NYC Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) The Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) is looking to partner with community based organizations (CBOs) to support “The People’s Money,” NYC’s citywide Participatory Budgeting (PB) process, and/or the TRIE Neighborhood Initiative.
The CEC is committed to strengthening the capacity of local community-building efforts to increase resident participation in The People’s Money. As such, we are seeking a diverse set of partners with deep ties to communities to participate in this process. This funding opportunity is open to applicants who are registered 501(c)(3) community-based organizations (CBOs) and/or applicants with fiscal sponsorship or access to deposit and W-9. CBOs with a focus on serving youth, older adults, public housing residents, justice impacted individuals, people with disabilities, limited English proficient individuals, veterans, the LGBTQ+ community, and/or other historically underserved groups are highly encouraged to apply.
Description: This application is an invitation to apply to partner with the Civic Engagement Commission for one of two partnership opportunities:
1. The People’s Money (Cycle III: Phases 1 & 3)
The CEC is excited to be entering into the third cycle of “The People’s Money” from October, 2024 through June, 2025. In this process, New Yorkers throughout the five boroughs have the power to directly decide how $3.5 million of public funding will be spent on expense projects in their boroughs. The CEC seeks to fund organizations to support Phase 1 by hosting Idea Generation Sessions. 2. The TRIE Neighborhood Initiative (FY 24 - FY 25)
The CEC is excited to be entering into the fourth year of the TRIE Neighborhood Initiative from September, 2024 through June, 2025. This initiative funds CBOs to build a coalition to mobilize residents in equity (TRIE) Neighborhoods to engage civically, and participate in The People’s Money. Please note, organizations may apply to be considered for both opportunities, but may only be awarded one partnership max.
