The AmeriCorps SC Member Retention and Transition Fund's primary goal is to provide a small financial support resource to offset unexpected and unavoidable costs faced by current and recent AmeriCorps SC members - in honor of your AmeriCorps service to the Palmetto State.

This fund is administered by AmeriCorps alums, for AmeriCorps alums. 

This resource is provided by the South Carolina Commission on National and Community Service "AmeriCorps SC" in partnership with AmeriCorps alumni and champions from across the Palmetto State.

Financial assistance is capped at a one-time request of no more than $500 per participant.

To be eligible for this funding support, you must:
  • Have served at any point in calendar year 2025 as an AmeriCorps member within South Carolina, within the branches of AmeriCorps State, AmeriCorps National, AmeriCorps VISTA, or AmeriCorps NCCC.
  • Have been affected by an unexpected and unavoidable financial setback during your term of service, such as program or site closure or another compelling personal circumstance beyond your control. 
  • Have not received funding support from this particular fund at any point in the past 12 months.

(Limited to 100 words) NOTE 1: An expense is considered "unexpected" when it could not easily be anticipated. Running over a nail in the road and losing a tire would be 'unexpected'. Monthly rent would be expected. NOTE 2: An expense is considered "unavoidable" when it cannot be prevented, mitigated, or covered through another means. An emergency medical visit would be generally unavoidable. An optional dental procedure (like teeth whitening) would be generally avoidable.
