Thanks for your interest in serving as a Youth Delegate at The 120th Annual Council!

NOMINATION PROCESS

The 120th Annual Council of the Diocese of Atlanta will convene at the Cathedral of St. Philip (Atlanta) from November 6-7. This is the yearly legislative session of the Diocese. Youth Delegates are given full voice and vote, which means they can author, vote, and speak on resolutions before the Council.

The Youth Delegation has 12 seats (11 Youth Delegates and an Alternate). Students in grades 10-12 who belong to a parish in the Diocese of Atlanta are eligible to serve as Youth Delegate. Once a student is selected and confirmed by their convocation, they are a part of the Youth Delegation! (We will be in touch with you during this process.)

If You Are Selected...

Once confirmed by their convocation, selected Delegates will attend two check-ins (with the option to join two additional work group meetings) in the Fall. Each meeting will likely be 20-40 minutes long.
  • September 1 | Zoom Orientation
  • September 12 | Resolution Work Group Meeting (optional)
  • October 12 | Resolution Work Group Meeting (optional)
  • October 29 | Last Looks!

What to Expect at Annual Council

Annual Council will be held at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta. The Council will convene between 8a-4p on Friday and 9a-1p on Saturday.

Youth Delegates receive a badge and voting device at check-in. After worship, they will take their place at the Youth Delegation table (typically at the front of the room) for Bishop to gavel Council into session. Complimentary Starbucks drinks are provided for Youth Delegates both mornings of Council.

During Council, Delegates vote and participate in committees. After Council business concludes on Friday, Youth Delegates have the option of staying at the Cathedral for The Overnight @ Annual Council, our diocesan youth lock-in.

On Saturday morning, Youth Delegates and students from The Overnight will open the Council session with youth-led worship. Afterwards, Delegates will go back into Council business until noonish. They will have the option to help with the Annual Council Service Project after Council concludes and then go home!
After hitting submit, Holle will follow up with you. Thank you for your interest!
