By signing up for the Live Events Access Charter, you commit to:
- Conducting an accessibility review across your organisation to ensure access solutions are considered for audiences, staff, volunteers and artists.
- Completing your application within one year of signing up.
- Reviewing and updating your application every two years to maintain and improve standards.
- Participating in our Mystery Shopping programme to gain valuable feedback.
You acknowledge that the Live Events Access Charter is just one part of fostering inclusive practices. Beyond achieving this award, you commit to ongoing development, engagement and collaboration with disabled people to ensure continued progress.
To achieve bronze status, members are required to have a foundational understanding of accessibility and provide basic provision. This includes:
- At least one staff member to complete Disability Equality Training
- Ensure your Emergency Evacuation Plan anticipates the needs of disabled customers, artists and professionals.
- Provide a companion/personal assistant ticket at no extra cost for disabled customers, volunteers, staff members and performers.
- Website accessibility page meets our Access Starts Online guidance.
- Website has basic accessibility features.
- A toilet with at least a 1.5m squared turning circle, with at least one grab rail.
- Level access from point of arrival to areas of performance and toilets, both front and back of house.
- Include a question about accessibility requirements in recruitment of artists and professionals.
