ABOUT WISE READERS TO LEADERS

Wise Readers to Leaders (WRTL) is a nonprofit organization that offers a free, six-week summer literacy and enrichment program for qualifying students who have completed Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our Summer Literacy Program is designed to prevent the “summer slide,” or learning loss, that many students from under-resourced communities experience during the summer months.

WRTL staff work to create a fun, engaging, and transformative summer experience for scholars by providing an innovative literacy-focused curriculum, enrichment activities, and experiential learning opportunities. Our program emphasizes strengthening literacy skills, fostering a love of reading, building self-confidence, and supporting social-emotional development.

Summer staff are supported by passionate high school volunteers known as Junior Literacy Leaders, who assist in the classroom and serve as positive role models and mentors to our scholars.

Applications are currently being accepted for our 2026 Summer Literacy Program.

This application is for a full-time, seasonal/summer position. All staff must be available for the entirety of the program.

Training: June 13 - June 19
Parent Orientation: June 20
Program Dates: June 22 - August 7

We will operate on four sites this summer: 2 Sites in Bel-Air, and 2 Sites in West LA.

You will be responsible for your own transportation. Many summer staff arrange carpools with each other at their sites. While we try to accommodate the site preferences of our staff, we are unable to guarantee all site placement requests.

I further grant permission for Wise Readers to Leaders to record and capture me, including my name, voice, appearance, likeness, and comments, in any format, including but not limited to film, audio recordings, video recordings, photographs, print, and any other media now known or hereafter developed.

I acknowledge and agree that Wise Readers to Leaders shall own all right, title, and interest in and to any such recordings and materials. I further agree that Wise Readers to Leaders may use all or any portion of this media for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to publications, exhibitions, public displays, editorials, marketing, advertising, and promotional materials.

I waive any right to inspect or approve the final media, advertising, or promotional materials in which my name, voice, appearance, likeness, narrative, or comments may appear.

I hereby release and agree to hold harmless Wise Readers to Leaders and its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensees, and assigns from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action, including but not limited to claims of invasion of privacy or rights of publicity, arising out of or related to any of the uses described above.
