IOCDF presents the annual Hero Award in recognition of an individual with lived experience, family member, or loved one who has embodied putting concern for others in need above one’s self either through a series of activities or a significant one-time contribution in the past year. The recipient’s contribution fulfills the mission of the IOCDF to provide help, healing, and hope and drives forward the IOCDF vision that everyone impacted by OCD and related disorders has immediate access to effective treatment and support. Activities considered can be a part of any IOCDF initiatives or an individually-led program or activity. This individual demonstrates how one person’s actions can create meaningful change and truly make a difference.
Anyone may nominate someone who represents a Hero in the OCD and related disorders community.
A panel assembled by IOCDF Staff, IOCDF Board members, and the Advocate Advisory Board will consider all nominations and select the winner. Please note:
Nominations are anonymous.
Previous Hero Award recipients are not eligible.
Professionals (clinicians, therapists, physicians, researchers) are NOT eligible for the Hero Awards yet may submit nominations.
IOCDF Board Members and IOCDF Staff are not eligible.
Please note that the deadline for nominations is April 30, 2025.
Recipients will be notified by May 14, 2025, publicly announced on June 17, 2025, and presented the award at the 30th Annual OCD Conference in Chicago.
