KCMO Residential Tree Grant

Thanks for your interest in the Residential Tree Grant Program sponsored by the City of Kansas City! Please take a moment to fill out the information below so we can better assess your property.

Here's what you need to know: 
  • We will be in touch by email or phone to discuss your application within the next week.
  • Your tree will be planted in the front or side yard. Sorry, no backyards allowed.
  • Planting seasons are spring (March-May) and fall (September-December)
  • Species and quantities are limited. First come, first served
  • You agree to follow the recommendations of the Heartland Tree Alliance to water and care for your new tree.

I attest that I am the owner of the residential property at the location noted in this request, or that I have received explicit written permission to request a tree on the property owner’s behalf. Bridging The Gap, Inc. has offered to plant one tree (each, a “Tree”) on the listed property, paid for by the City of Kansas City (the “City”).

 

I have accepted Bridging The Gap’s offer, and I acknowledge and agree that:

  1. To the best of my knowledge, the property is free from hidden hazards that would pose an unreasonable risk to volunteers, staff, or contractors.  I will inform Bridging The Gap of any know hazards such as unstable structures, animals, hazardous materials, or other unsafe conditions before work begins;
  2. I have consented to the planting of each Tree on the property by Bridging The Gap or Contractor;
  3. I have selected the type of Tree that I would like to have planted on the property;
  4. I have consented to the location on the property of each Tree planting;
  5. I have consented to allow Bridging The Gap, its volunteers, contractors, or representatives approval to access my yard as needed for the planting, and health inspections of each Tree;
  6. I am responsible for watering and otherwise caring for each Tree after its planting;
  7. Bridging The Gap is not obligated to move or remove any Tree that it plants on the property if I later decide that such action is necessary or desirable;
  8. If I encounter problems with any Tree I will contact Bridging The Gap by emailing  trees@bridgingthegap.org or calling at (816) 533-4179 regarding the specific problems, I understand Bridging The Gap will provide an assessment and advice on steps that may be taken to improve the health of each Tree;
  9. If any Tree should die during the first 12 months following its planting, excluding death owing to vandalism, severe weather, improper care, unintentional injury or auto impacts, Bridging The Gap will replace the Tree, one time, at no cost, provided that Bridging The Gap receives written notice from me of the Tree’s death within that twelve month period; and
  10. Bridging The Gap and the City, having provided me with one or more Tree plantings at no cost, shall have no liability or responsibility to me whatsoever for any damage to person or property that any Tree planted by Bridging the Gap may cause in the future;
  11. I understand that photos may be taken during the planting of either myself or the Tree on my property, and I hereby grant Bridging The Gap and Heartland Tree Alliance the irrevocable and unrestricted right to use and publish photographs of me, or in which I may be included, for editorial, trade, advertising, and any other purpose and in any manner and medium; to alter the same without restriction; and to copyright the same. I hereby release Bridging The Gap and Heartland Tree Alliance from all claims and liability relating to said photographs;
  12.  I agree to release indemnify, and hold harmless BTG, HTA, their, employees, volunteers, agents, partners, and assigns from any and all claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising from: Any injury to persons (including volunteers) or damage to property occurring on the Property during the Work.

Choose from the following types of trees.  After verifying that your property meets the requirements of the program staff will provide a short list of trees we have in stock from the categories below that you can choose from:

Small Ornamental tree (matures under 25 feet tall) 
Choose from a short list of trees best suited to your yard.  May include redbud, crabapple, lilac, or similar flowering tree varieties. Great for smaller yards or tight spaces!

Small - Medium tree (matures 25 -40 feet tall)
Choose from a short list of trees best suited to your yard! May include Hornbeam, Pacific Sunset Maple, Hophornbeam, or similar varieties.  Great for smaller yards or tight spaces!

Medium - Large tree (matures over 40 feet tall)
Choose from a short list of trees best suited to your yard! May include Oak, Maple, Locust, Elm, or similar shade tree varieties.  Great for larger or sunny yards!
Tree species are limited and a first-come, first-served basis. Please select your first and second choice and we will do our best to accommodate.
