Tutoring Associate Board (TAB) Application

The Tutoring Associate Board (“TAB”) is an ancillary board created for the purpose of furthering the mission of Tutoring Chicago (“TC”). The TAB supports the mission in a variety of ways. A few key focus areas of the TAB are event planning and execution, tutor recruitment and engagement, and fundraising. TAB is a volunteer organization.


Requirements/Details:

  1. Membership is open to tutors who have volunteered with Tutoring Chicago. Members must be at least 21 years of age.  
  2. TAB members are engaged individuals who want to become further involved in contributing to the advancement of Tutoring Chicago’s mission.
  3. Length of term is one year with the option to apply again (June 1st, 2025 - May 31, 2026).
  4. The TAB will meet as a full group three times during the 2025-2026 term. These meetings will take place in June 2025, November 2025, and April 2026 with exact dates to be determined. The TAB will also be invited to join Tutoring Chicago’s Executive Board of Directors for a social gathering in September 2025. Smaller working groups will be established around specific initiatives and will conduct meetings on a schedule to be determined with the group and staff liaison. 
  5. TAB members are responsible for attendance at both full TAB and small working group meetings they are a part of to the extent that is possible throughout the term. 
  6. TAB members will have the opportunity to choose which specific initiatives they would like to be a part of during the term. It is expected that all TAB members engage in both fundraising and recruitment related efforts when called upon to the best of their ability.
  7. Members will have 1:1 communication with Tutoring Chicago staff liasons at the onset of the term to determine how they will contribute towards the overall goal of the Tutoring Associate Board
  8. TAB members should make their best effort to attend TAB-sponsored events.








Are you interested in being considered for any of the following Executive Committee roles? (select all that apply)

  1. President - The President shall be the TAB’s chairman and shall preside as chairman at all  full meetings of the TAB. The President shall have the overall executive authority, powers, and duties over  affairs of the TAB, subject to the authority of the bylaws. The  President shall generally perform all duties associated with the office of the President and such duties as may be assigned by the TC Board and/or ED. The President will contribute to the various working groups in collaboration with other EC members by acting as a liaison between TAB, TC Staff, and TC Governing Board and ensuring that each committee or working group is executing duties as expected.
  2. Vice President - The Vice President shall preside in the absence of the President or in the  event the President is unable to or refuses to act. When so acting, the Vice President shall have all  powers of and be subject to all restrictions of the President. The Vice President shall perform such duties  as may be assigned by the President or by the TC Board and/or ED. The Vice President will also collaborate with SL to track financial activity involving TAB  efforts. The Vice President will contribute to the various working groups in collaboration with other EC members by acting as a liaison between TAB, TC Staff and TC Governing Board and ensuring that each committee or working group is executing duties as expected.
  3. Secretary - The Secretary shall keep true and accurate minutes of all meetings of the TAB,  record attendance of each meeting and provide minutes of meetings to all TAB Executive Council  members and the TC Board and/or ED promptly after the meeting. In addition to duties stated above,  the Secretary will also assist the President in their duties, see that all notices are duly given, log TAB member event attendance and support, and  perform such other duties as assigned to them by the President or Executive Director of TC. The Secretary will contribute to the various working groups in collaboration with other EC members by acting as a liaison between TAB, TC Staff and TC Governing Board and ensuring that each committee or working group is executing duties as expected.





TAB members can support Tutoring Chicago in a variety of ways throughout the term.
  • Events - TAB will host approximately 5 events throughout the course of the year. TAB members will be responsible for planning and executing these events with the support of Tutoring Chicago staff liaisons. Not all that choose this option will need to plan every single event. Some events will require more help than others.
  • Recruitment - TAB members can support recruitment in a variety of ways, including: attending community recruitment events, phone banking with potential volunteers, orientation support, etc. 
  • Fundraising - TAB members can support fundraising in a variety of ways including making introductions to their professional and personal networks, seeking sponsorships and serving on planning committees for fundraising events, encouraging the general tutor population to support fundraising efforts, etc.
