Growlight 2025 Program Application

GROWLIGHT: A Four-Week Immersion at FIU's Miami Beach Urban Studios

Growlight provides high school students with hands-on urban design experiences in a dynamic, professional environment led by experienced educators, designers, and FIU students.

Program Highlights:

Master Rhino 8 CAD software used by professional architects worldwide
Create innovative designs addressing urban accessibility challenges
Access to the Miami Beach Urban Studios, which is equipped with advanced 3D printing technologies and is significant for its contributions to research and innovation in design, arts, and technology.
Develop presentation skills through multiple design critiques and proposal pitches
Connect with design professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders
Explore Miami's architectural landmarks and design-focused businesses through curated field trips
Visit cultural institutions in Miami and Miami Beach
Experience immersive walking tours of Miami Beach's iconic neighborhoods

Professional Development:

Learn from educators with real-world engineering expertise and industry knowledge
Mentorship from FIU School of Architecture graduate students
Guest lectures from FIU faculty and design professionals
Introduction to entrepreneurship and design business fundamentals

Program Details:

Dates: June 16 - July 11, 2025
Cost: $1,200 ($300/week)
Location: FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios
Full scholarships available for Breakthrough Scholars, Carnival Scholars, and high school students who qualify for free/reduced lunch
