New Volunteers
For volunteers new to AMIS, we require the first and last names and contact information of two coworkers or friends outside your immediate family who can provide a character reference. Thank you.






Background Check Policy
1. Every NEW volunteer who signs up to be an Amigo volunteer is required to have a background check on file with AMIS.
2. ALL RETURNING volunteers need to have a background check on file with AMIS every 5 years.

3. Background checks help us provide assurance to the university, the international students, and AMIS that we are committed to the welfare of the international students in our programs. AMIS will pay for the background check in full, but you will be invited to make an optional donation towards the cost. Please use the link that will be accessible after you submit the application. After you complete the background check, we will reach out to you to schedule a brief Zoom call to get acquainted and to go over any questions you may have about the Amigo program. At this time, we can give you a brief overview of AMIS and ask if you have any requests for students from specific schools or locations around Atlanta.
