The Protofacturing Accelerator is open to any hardware company with a proof-of-concept prototype that is looking to advance to a manufacturable product. Accepted teams need to demonstrate progress and achieved milestones to be beyond the early prototyping stage but prior to a manufacturing stage. Both students and professionals – Cornell and non-Cornell – are able to join the accelerator.
During the program, participants refine a proof-of-concept prototype to an engineering prototype while continuing to engage in customer discovery to finalize their business model. Teams will focus on incorporating, funding strategies, cleaning up documentation and advancing their prototype to a manufacturable design.
Ideal* candidates have a:
- Dedicated full-time team (prefer at least two people, but one person can qualify)
- In process of incorporating their business
- Validated product market fit through customer discovery and/or user-testing
- Functioning prototype that performs all basic device requirements
- Has developed a funding strategy (non-dilutive, venture capital, crowd-funded, etc)
*You do not need to meet all above criteria in order to apply.
Our protofacturing accelerator consists of 4 tailored tracks:- Classic Track: Open to innovators in any field, Rev’s classic track provides foundational training across ALL industries.
- AgTech Track: Agriculture technology startups are immersed in specialized training and connected to experts and potential partners within the agriculture industry. Ideas can span from growing to food processing. Team's will be in proximity to the Cornell Agriculture Life Science (CALS) school resources.
- MedTech Track: Offered in partnership with Cornell Biomedical Engineering and Weill Cornell, the new MedTech track provides innovators developing medical devices access to specialized prototyping equipment, regulatory resources, and research and medical professionals in the field.
- ClimateTech Track: Climatetech startups are placed in a like-minded cohort, matched with clean energy and clean tech mentors, and learn from guest speakers in the field. Startups should be able to identify a reduction in Green House Gas emissions.
Companies/Teams can apply to only 1 track at a time. Apply to which track you believe is most applicable to your product. If you are interested in joining the AgTech, MedTech or ClimateTech tracks, you must explain in the application below how your product "fits" within the industry track.
Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis. If you have any questions, please reach out to Rev@RevIthaca.com.
