This is a funding opportunity for emerging dermatology residency programmes to apply for a "GLODERM SEED Grant", in partnership with CeraVe Care For All, to advance and support their initiatives to increase access to dermatological care and training in underserved communities.


Aim: This grant aims to help initiate, develop, or expand emerging dermatology residency / training programmes in resource-limited settings.


What: Maximum funding available per grant is USD $20,000, including overhead and indirect costs. If your institute requires any administration fees, please include this within your budget. 


Who: The applicant should be the programme leader, or co-leader, and manages the dermatology residency programme within your institute. Applicants must be affiliated with a developing or recently established dermatology training programme. Only one application may be submitted per residency programme.

 

To obtain access to funding, your programme should comply with the application process and meet the grant eligibility requirements.

Eligibility

✔ GLODERM Member 
All applicants must be GLODERM Member – and if not already one, to sign up for free as an Active Member to stay involved with our community.


✔ Dermatology pathway 
Applicants must be leading, or co-leading, the management of a dermatology residency training programme within your institute. 

  • Physicians (MMed, MBBS, MD, or equivalent) or practising dermatologists working within an institute and managing a dermatology residency training programme. 
  • Applicants must be the dermatology residency training programme lead manager or closely involved in coordinating the programme.

This grant is not for individual residents or medical students.


✔ Emerging residency programme 

An emerging dermatology residency programme must have been launched within your institute, with the first residents enrolled, less than six (6) years ago. To be eligible, your training programme should have no more than 3 x graduated residency groups. 


Programmes older than six (6) years will not be eligible to apply for the grant.


✔ Official letter of support 

Applicants must provide a dated and signed or stamped institutional letter on an official letterhead, clearly confirming details submitted in your application: 

  • Confirm your role as lead or co-lead in managing the dermatology residency training programme within your institution 
  • Confirm details of the dermatology residency training programme  
  • Confirm expected use of the grant funding outlined in your application 
  • Confirm that the institute can receive the funding and will support with the grant reporting requirements 

The letter must be signed or written by an authorised institute representative other than the applicant themselves (such as a Head of Department or Institute Lead/Head). 

What if my residency programme has not launched yet? 
If you have a dermatology residency programme starting within the next 6-months, then you may be eligible to apply for this grant and join the network.


If you have no specific plans to launch within the next 6-months - you will not be eligible to apply for this grant on this occasion. However, please do contact us to see if you are eligible to join the ERP Network to receive access to bi-monthly meetings and online resources, focusing on common challenges to overcome and best practice topics to support your endeavour to launch a new residency programme in your institute.

Funding request

Your institute must be willing to receive and process the grant for utilisation against the residency programme.


It is the applicants responsibility to check in advance if there are any indirect costs or facility fees associated with this. These costs must be included in the $20,000 USD budget allocation.

 

There is no limitation on the funding amount requested that goes to salaries or overhead expenses necessary to run the programme. Your total grant budget should not exceed $20,000 USD.

 

Grant funding cannot be used for the following:

- Debt retirement

- Costs already encumbered or to be reimbursed

- Lobbying and political activities

- Capital campaigns/improvements

- Evangelical work by religious organizations/Individuals

- Fundraising drives/events

- Events/Conferences production

- Endowment funds

- Travels or other costs not directly linked to the project

 

Requested funds may only be used for the specific programme request during a 1-year period, timeline for funding is negotiable. Please do add extra rows to the budget as needed.

Letter of support

Acknowledgements
