Programs Internship Position 2025-2026

The Latinas On the Verge of Excellence - L.O.V.E. Mentoring Program empowers young women to excel academically and personally through positive role modeling and health education. We are seeking Program Interns to assist with the development and implementation of our mentoring programs during the 2026-2027 academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, facilitate, and support mentoring sessions in NYC public schools and community programs.

  • Work with women of diverse backgrounds in a classroom setting.

  • Assist with organizational projects, data collection, and entry.

  • Communicate with staff, school liaisons, and community partners.

  • Represent L.O.V.E. at meetings, events, and partner gatherings.

  • Support volunteer mentors by providing guidance and fostering their professional growth.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and ongoing professional development related to youth work.

Qualifications

  • Female student enrolled in an accredited college or university in NYC, or either as an undergraduate or graduate student

  • Ability to travel across NYC to schools and community centers.

  • Strong communication, organizational, project management, and presentation skills. Able to commit to working at the same school for an entire academic year (Sept-May). Able to receive college credits or stipend through college institution. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.

  • Passionate about working with young women from diverse backgrounds. Experience working with youth, public speaking skills and facilitation.

  • Committed to leadership and mentorship development.

  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).

Schedule

  • Part-time, approximately 15 hours per week during the full academic year.

  • Ideal availability: two weekdays between 9 am – 5:30 pm.

  • Preferred start: mid-August 2025 for training before the September program launch.

*Participants in L.O.VE.'s Mentoring Program Internship Program are unpaid interns per the criteria for an employment relationship under New York State Department of Labor guidance.

I hereby grant permission to any person, firm or corporation to release to Latinas On the Verge of Excellence - L.O.V.E, Inc. (the "Organization") or its representatives, and to the organization and its representatives to receive any and all information regarding my past volunteer work or employment and my background relevant to the Internship Program. I waive any and all claims, liability and causes of action I might have with respect to the organization receiving or providing of such information to third parties. 


I hereby release and hold harmless Latinas On the Verge of Excellence — L.O.V.E., Inc. from any and all claims, liability and causes of action, which I may have against Latinas On the Verge of Excellence - L.O.V.E., Inc., its Director and its volunteers arising from, resulting from or in connection with the Internship Program, including but without limitation, any claims, demands or causes of action resulting from the negligence of the Internship Program. This agreement is signed for the purpose of fully and completely releasing, discharging, and indemnifying Latinas On the Verge of Excellence —L.O.V.E., Inc., its Director and its volunteers from any and all claims, liability and causes of action as herein described. 


I understand and agree that my position at the Organization is as an unpaid intern, and not as an employee for labor purposes. As an unpaid intern, I understand that the nature of my position is entirely voluntary and without compensation. I understand that the training I would receive as part of the Internship Program is for my benefit and is generalized and similar to an educational program, rather than furthering the interests of L.O.V.E. I further understand that the provisions of this application do not constitute a contract (either expressed or implied) of employment between myself and the Organization. I further understand and agree that if I am offered and accept an internship position at the Organization, either I or the Organization may terminate the volunteer relationship at any time for any reason or no particular reason or cause. The Organization reserves the right to determine and change its policies and procedures applicable to interns at any time for any reason. I understand and agree that my intern position is contingent upon, among other things, my signing the Organization's Mentor Volunteer Code of Conduct. In the event of the Organization's determination of my ineligibility to participate as a intern, in accordance with the Internship Program's policies, I understand the reason will not be provided.
