APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS - PLEASE READ



Applications will be reviewed by independent industry experts and CFC Program team members. Applicants will be notified by email within one week after applying.

This application has several sections. Please complete all required fields, review your information, and then submit for consideration.

Eligibility:


Please note that this workshop is open only to applicants who: 

  • Are Canadian citizens within the meaning of the Citizenship Act (Canada) or permanent residents of Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada).
  • Have been credited as a creative leader (Producer, Director, Creative Director, Writer, Narrative Designer) on at least one project aired on a major broadcast network or streaming platform (film or TV content) or distributed on a major gaming or app store platform (game or XR content.) or have a minimum of 75,000 subscribers for narrative content on other channels
  • Are available for the specified workshop dates.
  • Are 18 years or older.


Cost: Payment of a Participation Fee of $175 + HST (Workshops #2) or $100 + HST (Workshop #4) is required to participate in this workshop.  Successful applicants invited to participate in the workshop will receive an invoice setting out payment options from the CFC by email. Participation is conditional upon CFC’s receipt of the full Participation Fee.

VOLUNTARY SELF-IDENTIFICATION QUESTIONNAIRE

The CFC is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and encourages applications from filmmakers, creators, and entrepreneurs from all communities, identities, abilities, and intersections. In order to evaluate, improve and evolve the CFC’s workshops and recruitment efforts, better identify and support underrepresented communities, and ensure we consider the needs of potential residents, please consider responding to the following optional questions. These data is collected on a voluntary basis to help ensure a more equitable and representative screen-based industry. Please note that terminology used within is subject to change given the evolving nature of language and nomenclature for these important purposes.

Information collected in the below Self-Identification Questionnaire is kept in a secure location: access to this information is restricted only to CFC personnel with valid reasons who require it including but not limited to CFC Programs, Legal, IT, and Communications, and it will be destroyed after the CFC has analyzed the information and its subsequent anonymization (unless otherwise required by law).  You may withdraw your consent to the CFC’s continued use of the information provided in this Questionnaire at any time during the collection or over the period during which the information is held by the CFC prior to its anonymization.

The CFC requires your consent to the following as a condition to participating in the workshop:
REFUND POLICY
We understand that plans sometimes change. If you need to withdraw, you must provide at least 5 business days’ notice by email to programs@cfccreates.com before the start date in order to receive either a credit towards a future CFC Satellites workshop (subject to availability), or a refund of your registration fee minus the 2.4% credit card processing fee.

As there are a limited number of spots available in each session for CFC Satellites, if you need to withdraw after the 5 business day window, we are unable to offer refunds. However, in exceptional circumstances, we may be able to offer a credit towards a future CFC Satellites workshop (subject to availability) at the discretion of CFC. By registering, you acknowledge and agree to this policy.
RESPECT IN THE WORKPLACE POLICY
CFC has a zero-tolerance policy with respect to discrimination and harassment in the workplace. All applicants accepted into the workshop must familiarize themselves with the CFC's Respect in the Workplace policy available here and acknowledge and agree to this policy.
SURVEY
If accepted into the workshop, you agree to promptly complete a short e-survey following the completion of the workshop and acknowledge that this is a program funding requirement.
CONFIDENTIALITY
If accepted into the workshop you may have access to, become acquainted with or acquire from workshop leaders, guests or other workshop participants information which is confidential or material non-public information (“Confidential Information”). If accepted into the workshop, you agree that you will not disclose any Confidential Information to any third party or any unauthorized party or to use Confidential Information for any purpose at any time, for any reason other than with respect to your participation in the workshop.
NO RECORDING
The workshop will be offered remotely.  To encourage open participation and to protect privacy and confidentiality of the participants, the recording of the workshop by any means (inclusive of screenshots, transcribing tool, audio or audiovisual recording) is strictly prohibited.
RIGHTS AND RELEASE
If accepted into the workshop you agree:i) to grant to CFC the non-exclusive right to reproduce, use and display your name and biography for the purposes of promoting the workshop and the CFC; and ii) acknowledge that participating in the workshop is a collaborative process and agree that you will not acquire any right, title or interest in or to any other workshop participant’s project and hereby quitclaim and release any such right.

For clarity, if accepted into the workshop, you will own all rights to any intellectual property generated by you through workshop exercises.
TERMINATION
If accepted into the workshop, you agree that the CFC reserves the right to terminate your participation if at any time you are in breach of the above terms or should the CFC determine, in its sole discretion, that your behaviour is delaying or negatively impacting the workshop.  
STATEMENT OF TRUTH
The information provided in this application is true and complete to the best of your knowledge and you understand that a false statement may result in disqualification and rejection of this application by the CFC.
