About the Program

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, October 31, 2025 at 12 p.m.

SELECTION CRITERIA

A committee of Indiana Philanthropy Alliance (IPA) members chosen by the board chair will evaluate the written applications, interview potential candidates, and select qualified applicants.

Successful applicants will possess demonstrated community interest, self-motivation, and strong character. The selection committee is looking to fill a diverse cohort of enthusiastic philanthropists representing various backgrounds and geographic regions in Indiana who demonstrate their potential for future success and service to their communities, and who are willing to translate the benefits of the program into a greater level of participation. 

PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Attend all class sessions and give full attention to the class. 
  • There must be no conflict between a participant’s employer and the required attendance. 
  • Pay tuition and associated travel expenses. 
  • Secure a sponsorship for your table for Philanthropy Leads, the premiere IPA event recognizing the Mutz Institute class.
  • Help recruit applicants for future Mutz Institute classes. Increase their involvement in their community.
ANTICIPATED COSTS
  • Tuition: Members: $1,500 / Nonmembers: $3,000
  • Overnight Expenses (Estimate): $500
  • Table of Eight at Philanthropy Leads Dinner & Graduation: $1,000
  • Optional Trip to Foundations on the Hill in Washington, D.C.: $1,500 (Estimated travel expenses)

  • September 1-2 (Philanthropy Leads Conference and Dinner/Mutz Recognition Ceremony. This is an optional overnight in Indianapolis.)
The 2026 Mutz cohort will have a special curriculum track during the Philanthropy Leads conference. Mandatory participation is expected on Sept. 1-2.
