MakerCamp 2025: Sci-Fi vs. Fantasy

Celebrate our new Apex Forge this summer! At MakerCamp for ages 12–18, you’ll use tools like laser cutters, 3D printers, and animation software to design props, build models, and bring your ideas to life. Along the way, you’ll build skills in creative design, digital fabrication, storytelling, and collaboration—all while exploring the epic worlds of sci-fi and fantasy.

Project/activity ideas

Sci-Fi vs. Fantasy: MakerCamp 2025 Project Areas Tech & Game Worlds

  • Design your own sci-fi or fantasy-themed game using Scratch,
  • Build and customize magical or robotic creatures with MicroBits (coding + laser cutting + wiring),

Makerspace Tools in Action

  • Laser cut wands, emblems, keys, or futuristic badges,
  • 3D print fantasy artifacts, gadgets, and spaceship models,
  • Create custom stickers and decals with the vinyl cutter for your gear or journal,
  • Solder glowing amulets or LED-powered tech props,
  • Use scroll saws to craft puzzle boxes, relics, or rune tablets,

Fantasy Meets Craft

  • Make enchanted jewelry, charm bracelets, or signal beacons,
  • Combine embroidery with wood or laser-cut designs for banners or sigils,
  • Create string art of fantasy beasts or sci-fi symbols,
  • Design and bind themed journals with layered laser/vinyl covers,

Storytelling Through Film

  • Shoot and edit videos reenacting scenes or original fan stories,
  • Animate characters and props using stop-motion techniques

NOTE: 

Students will be asked to bring their own lunch/drink in a cooler. 

Close-toed shoes (no sandals or crocs) required

**Refund Policy**
Refunds
  • To receive a full refund, please cancel your camp enrollment at least a week before August 4 (before July 28, 2025).
  • For a 50% refund, you must cancel at least 2 days before August 4 (before August 2).
  • Camp cancellations made within 48 hours of the camp will not be refunded as we will have already made purchases, decisions, and plans for your camper.
