The Summer Symphony Orchestra will meet for a week of intensive rehearsals, tutorials and workshops, culminating in a showcase concert at the Sydney Conservatorium.

Entry Guidelines
Audition RequiredOrchestral Strings, Brass, Woodwind and Percussion
AMEB Grade 6 to AMusA or equivalent.
Previous large ensemble experience required. Must be having private instrumental tuition.
Recommended ages: 14 – 18 years old
To apply for the Summer Symphony Orchestra, you must submit a short video audition of you performing a solo work of your choice. If you are not offered a place in the Summer Symphony Orchestra, you will be given the opportunity to enrol in Summer School 2026 and be placed in another ensemble. What if I am already enrolled in or applying for SYO's weekly training program?If you are enrolled in SYO in 2025 or applying for 2026, you will not need to complete an additional Summer Symphony audition. We will use your most recent SYO audition video to assess you against the other Summer Symphony candidates.2026 Summer Symphony Orchestra Key Dates
