Our Business GM is a cooperative (currently housed in Co-operatives UK) that exists to support organisations and individuals working in the social economy. We aim to build wealth in communities across Greater Manchester, by: Increasing the visibility of social economy organisationsand the products and services they sell, to drive trade and collaboration  
Strengthening inclusive businesses by facilitating access to knowledge, networks and free and premium business support (training, mentoring etc.)  Our Business GM is  funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). GMCA require us to collect and report personal data (e.g. Post Codes, Unique Tax Reference, National Insurance details and equality data on protected characteristics).  The data collection is required by Government departments to evidence the range of people supported through this funding, and GMCA will share this data with the UK Government (Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government).  We will also share anonymised and aggregated data publicly to showcase the diversity and makeup of Greater Manchester’s social economy.  We also anonymise and analyse equalities, to better understand which groups of entrepreneurs we are reachingWe deliver further evaluation activities help us assess if we are delivering equitable outcomes to different groups of entrepreneursWe use this to identify and share learning to improve the accessibility and inclusion of business support in Greater Manchester.  For further information on how we securely store and process your data, please review our Privacy Policy

To be classified as 'led by' at least 51% of the organisation's trustees/directors and 50% of staff, at all levels of the organisation, identify from the same minority community. So if you are youth-led then at least 51% of your trustees/directors and 50% of staff need to be aged under 26 years old

As a member, you can showcase your products, services and organisation, access tailored business support and become part of a growing movement to build a fairer, more resilient local economy.
    Its a place to grow your network, learn from other and inspire change across our city region.

    You are eligible to showcase your services and products on Our Business GM if you are based within Greater Manchester and an inclusive business meaning you fall into one of the following groups:
  • Social enterprises 
  • Trading charities 

  • Credit unions 

  • Community benefit societies 

  • Worker co-operatives (co-ops)

  • Consumer co-ops or any other type of co-op 
  • Mutuals 

  • Community businesses (for profit but social purpose) 

  • Employee-owned private businesses

  • Entrepreneurs

We can showcase business support provided by anchor institutions (like universities) and public bodies.

By joining the directory you will also become a member of Our Business GM cooperative, empowering the social economy.

















GMCA requires Our Business GM to collect participants data, personal data for entrepreneurs and company data with less personal data for people receiving support through their business.
