The Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA) has released this Initial Application for organizations interested in hosting Commonwealth Corps members for the August 2026 – June 2027 service term.


Completing this form is a required first step for all potential host sites. It will not be scored or evaluated as part of your final application, but it ensures we have basic information about interested organizations.

To help applicants fully understand the program and any updates for this cycle, we require that at least one staff member involved in the application process either: 

  • Attend one of our live webinars (see dates below), or

  • Watch a current webinar recording (from the CC website) and certify on the application that they reviewed it.

Live attendance is strongly encouraged, as it offers the chance to ask questions and hear from other applicants. Details including registration and recordings are on the Host with Commonwealth Corps page as they become available.

All Commonwealth Corps members must be involved in a combination of direct service, capacity building, and volunteer engagement while serving at their Host Site.

Review of Partnership Expectations
Selected Commonwealth Corps Host Site Organizations are responsible for the following: 
  • Collaborate with MSA (April–August) to finalize performance measures, position descriptions, and partnership details
  • Pay a Host Site fee, including a $500/member non-refundable deposit (fees reviewed annually - details provided in the Application Guide)
  • Designate a main MSA contact and member supervisor(s)
  • Provide daily supervision, training, and professional development to members, including weekly check-ins

  • Ensure adequate workspace, technology, and necessary supplies for members
  • Make members available for MSA events, including orientation, trainings, midyear meeting, and Celebration of Service, etc.
  • Member recruitment and selection, including submitting finalists to MSA by July 31, 2026
  • Conduct CORI/SORI checks before service
  • Monitor member hours and support progress toward program completion
  • Provide member orientation and ongoing training throughout service term

  • Follow allowable and unallowable member activities, as outlined in the Host Site Handbook (to be reviewed at Host Site Orientation in July)
  • Communicate regularly with MSA about challenges, staffing changes, or other updates
  • Collect and report program and member data, including evaluations and required surveys
  • Participate in site visits, monitoring and evaluation, and report activities

  • Manage member-related issues per MSA policy
  • Promote and acknowledge your MSA and Commonwealth Corps partnership
