Event Details


CareerCon 2026 is New Futures' 2nd annual in-person Career conference providing networking, professional development, and career exploration to help Scholars launch the next step in their career. The day will feature topical breakout sessions, professional networking, and on-the-spot resume reviews and mock interviews to prepare Scholars to secure and thrive in their next opportunity. With an estimated 125 New Futures Scholars in attendance, we need your support to dive into relevant career topics, individual feedback sessions, and professional networking! 📍Where:

🗓️ Who: YOU! All professionals are welcome, but we especially are looking for those working in the fields our Scholars aim to work in including:
  • Technology (especially IT and Cybersecurity)
  • Health Sciences (especially nursing)
  • Business
  • Education
  • Hospitality and Culinary Arts
  • Public Service
  • Construction and Trades

Volunteer Roles


Breakout Session Facilitator

Sessions should be on career readiness, professional development or industry specific topics in relevant fields. Scholars have specifically requested sessions in the following ares, though you are welcome to submit relevant session topics not listed below: 
  • Standing out in your Job Search
  • Professional Networking
  • Leveraging LinkedIn
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Career Finances (negotiating salaries, understanding taxes and payroll, savings and retirement)
  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Workplace (bias or discrimination in the workplace, women in male-dominated fields, immigrants in the workplace etc.)
  • Mental Health in the Workplace (Work/Life Balance, Imposter Syndrome etc.)
  • Industry Specific Topics in Technology, Health Sciences, Business or Education

Sessions will take place at 11:15 and 12:15 and be 45 minutes long, we ask all facilitators to arrive at least 45 minutes in advance. Sessions will take place in UDC Classrooms equipped with screens and projectors. We expect 20-40 participants in each session. We ask that all sessions include interactive components that allow Scholars to engage with each other and presenters and practice skills hands-on, in addition to any information that may be imparted through a lecture style presentation.

Session proposals will be accepted until January, 23rd 2026, you'll be notified about session selection by February, 13th 2026.
