As with previous years, this fund is focused on addressing the inequalities experienced by Camden residents due to race and/or disabilities.


The panel have put together a fairly narrow criteria in hope to make the fund less competitive, and therefore increasing the chances of organisations led-by those who experience systemic disadvantage being funded.


The Equality Fund is our flagship fund, and this year has been shaped by more than 100 people, with our alumni, our panel and the wider community all having their say on where this funding should be spent. It brings our manifesto to life in three ways:

1. We believe that people living with inequality are best placed to find the solutions.
2. We prioritise having accessible funding over counting the number of projects we fund.
3. People’s experience of life in Camden is not equal so people need individualised support.

The Equality Fund is our only unrestricted fund, it's set up to provide unrestricted funding to Camden based small charities and social enterprises that actively bring together people from different backgrounds to create communities that can thrive in Camden. As with our other funds, these two-year grants of £30,000 (in total) to organisations will decided by a panel of residents with lived experience of the issues this fund aims to address. 

Some key information you should know before you start:

  1. We are expecting to award 7 grants in this funding round
  2. The panel are open to receiving applications from all over the borough but are particularly keen to fund work that takes place in geographical cold spots.
  3. The panel are interested in how hidden disabilities can be supported as well as visible disabilities.
  4. Representation Accountability; if you are working with groups that experience disadvantage due to their race or experience of living with disabilities, our panel expect their voices to be represented in the leadership of organisations applying to this fund. 
  5. The panel want to fund systems change and different ways of looking at supporting people. They have spoken in depth about how assumptions lead to exclusion, they have seen the success of Youth Work in the borough and want to see how Youth Work outcomes can be replicated for adults in the borough. 

NOTE: This fund is only available to Camden based organisations with an annual income of up to £300k. Whilst there is no restriction on the minimum annual income for applicants there is an expectation that organisations will be able to prove they have been operational and working towards one or both missions of this fund for at-least 12 months. 

The anticipated timeline for this grant is as follows:

Fund opens for applications: Monday 13th October 2025

Fund closes for applications: Monday 3rd November 2025

Panel of Camden residents shortlist applications: Wednesday 12th November 2025

Panel feedback shared with applicants: Friday 14th November 2025

Panel of Camden residents make final decisions: Wednesday 3rd December 2025

Outcome of applications are communicated with applicants: Thursday 4th December 2025


We will only accept applications from organisations that deliver activities for charitable purposes, for example registered charities, CICs, CIOs, TRAs and private companies limited by guarantee without share capital.

Video submission

You are encouraged to attach or upload a video to support your application.


Video Submission Guidelines 


This section is optional. 

If you would like to, please submit a video that captures your organisation and describes why it should be funded. The video is an opportunity to showcase your passion and to pitch your story in a succinct format. We want you to share your vision with our community panel in a way that is different from the written proposal format. This does not need to be a professionally produced video; video filmed on a smartphone is acceptable and encouraged.


Your video must adhere to the following:

  • A length of no more than 2 minutes. Please note, videos over 2 minutes may make your application incomplete. Do get in touch with the team if you foresee an issue with this. 
  • Your pitch must be in English, or if another language, subtitled in English.
  • Your video should not contain any images of identifiable children (under age 18) without written parental consent.

Counter Fraud Agreement


Camden Giving takes its role in preventing and detecting fraud very seriously and we take a zero-tolerance approach to those who seek to commit an act of fraud or corruption or bribery against us. It is the responsibility of the organisation applying to ensure all information contained in the application is accurate. If you provide false or inaccurate information in your application or at any point in the life of any funding we award you and fraud is identified, we will take appropriate action to prevent fraud and money laundering. This may include providing your details to a fraud prevention agencies. You must inform all Directors, Trustees and Committee members of this notice.


Sharing and Monitoring 

  • a)  We hold and store your information in line with the Data Protection legislation currently in force and in line with our Data Protection Policy. You can request a copy of our policy by contacting admin@camdengiving.org.uk. This policy may be updated from time to time.

  • b)  There are circumstances where we will share the information you have provided to us in this application in line with the limitations of legislation. We may share information with organisations and individuals with a legitimate interest in Camden Giving applications and grants or specific funding programmes. We will use the information you give us during assessment and during the life of your grant (if awarded) to administer and monitor grants and for research and promotional purposes.

  • c) We will keep in contact with you throughout the life of your grant and we may send you regular email updates. These will contain useful information on a range of things including how to publicise your grant, information on other funding available and other news with a legitimate interest to you. If you wish to opt-out of communication not related to your grant you will need to contact Camden Giving.

Terms of Grant


If you are awarded a grant you must sign and return a Terms of Grant Form that will be shared with you within the timeframe set in the outcome email. 


Reporting

Reporting will be done via a combination of data collection and interviews
For the data collection element: We will require evidence that grantees are able to provide the following anonymised data on members of your organisations; who your members are (broken down by age, gender and ethnicity), where in the borough your members are coming from and how frequently they are engaging with your organisation. We would recommend organisations use Plinth, which is free to use, to capture this information, and are happy to support with onboarding onto the platform however if you are able to evidence that you use a different digital platform and can export this data, we are happy to accept data from those platforms.

Interviews with former Camden Giving panellists, known as 'Coffee and Chat reporting' which will be completed at the end of each year will focus on; if access to unrestricted funding has opened any doors to funding, and if representative leadership has played a role in the success of the project. Interviews will be conducted by the Camden Giving panellists who awarded you grant, and we would like to speak to the leader of the project as well as one person who has been supported by the project.

Camden Giving is a fundraising grant giver, as part of this we wish to celebrate your project achievements or organisation, we may contact you to take part in beneficiary-led videos or invite you to events to help us fundraise further funding that can support communities in Camden.

If for any reason you did not keep up-to-date with reporting requirements, this would make you ineligible for further Camden Giving funding.

The Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by Camden Giving


By submitting your application and any future written reports, you agree that some of the written content may be used to help improve or communicate about our services, including being reviewed by AI models. This will always be done securely and in line with data protection standards. No personal or sensitive information will be shared outside the grant-making process


Payments for this grant are phased

In Year 1, your first payment will be 50% of the total grant awarded.

In Year 2, subject to data being captured effectively in Year 1 and a light touch 'Coffee and Chat' being completed, a second payment for 40% of the grant will be paid 12 months into your project, followed by a final 10% after you have completed the final 'Coffee and Chat' report with a member of our Alumni.
