Borrow My
Glasses (BMG) 8: “Supporting Older Adults with Dementia & PTSD”
Older individuals who were exposed to significant trauma in their past are at increased risk for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) throughout their life. Symptoms of PTSD such as flashbacks, delusions, agitation, food rituals, and aversions to bathing or personal care can emerge anytime. These symptoms can worsen years after the initial trauma and are complicated by dementia. This program will discuss specific techniques to comfort older adults with PTSD and dementia, which can also be shared with family caregivers.

Care for the
Caregiver (CFTC) 2: “Navigating Change & Building Resilience through Self-Care”
Participants will explore ways to practice self-care during times of change and learn strategies for creating habits of resilience. Building mental and emotional reserves of energy to utilize during times of transition will also be discussed.
Alzheimer: “Best
Practices in Dementia Care”
The Alzheimer's
Association Connecticut Chapter presents "Best Practices in Dementia
Care" a 4-hour training detailing how to care for those with dementia.
