AMSI Winter School 2026 - Application Form

AMSI is pleased to partner with the University of Queensland to host AMSI Winter School 2026 on Geometric Analysis from 6-17 July at their St Lucia campus in Brisbane, Australia and online.

Applicants are expected to have a solid background in basic differential geometry and differential equations to fully participate in the Winter School.
  • Acceptance into AMSI Winter School 2026 is at the discretion of the Event Director.
  • Applicants will be notified via email (to the address provided on this form) the outcome of their application.
  • All participants are expected to give a brief 'Participant Talk' on your research interests and/or PhD thesis topic.
  • All attendees are expected to participate in the full two-week Winter School program.
Application for AMSI Winter School includes submission of this Form AND Fee Payment via the AMSI Eventbrite payment gateway (which you will be directed to when you submit this form).

Referee Details

AMSI Travel Grants
Students enrolled at AMSI Member Universities are eligible to apply for Travel Grant funding for
  • Accommodation in Brisbane for the duration of the school; and/or 
  • Assistance with the cost of return travel from your home city to Brisbane. 
Grants do not cover Winter School application fees. All travel grant recipients must participate in person.

Female, First Nations and regional, rural and remote students are encouraged to apply.

Funding is limited. Applicants are expected to investigate financial support available through their home university and seek supervisor or course coordinator support before applying for an AMSI Travel Grant.

AMSI-ICMS International Grants
University students and early-career researchers (PhD completion in 2023 or later) from South East Asia and Pacific Islands are eligible to apply for International Grant funding for: 
  • Accommodation in Brisbane for the duration of the school; and/or 
  • Assistance with the cost of economy travel from your home city to Brisbane.
  • AMSI Winter School Program Fees 
AMSI-ICMS International Grants are funded through the Mathematics for Humanity Worldwide programme of the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Edinburgh.

All travel grant recipients must participate in person.

Travel
Successful applicants will receive up to AUD$1650 to assist with international flights from your home city to Brisbane.

Participant Talks
All participants are expected to give a short 10 minute talk on their research or thesis topic. Advanced students typically present their own results, while earlier-stage students can introduce their research area or proposed project. (note: presentation lengths and timings will be confirmed closer to the event).
