Our Fellows bring fresh perspectives and leadership to support your mission and drive social change.

About the Project 55 Fellowship Program

Princeton AlumniCorps connects talented individuals with organizations dedicated to creating a more just, equitable, and sustainable society. Our Project 55 Fellowship places recent Princeton graduates in nonprofits committed to systemic change. With over 2,000 alumni, Fellows have contributed to nearly 500 organizations nationwide. This Fellowship offers nonprofits passionate and skilled young professionals ready to make a meaningful impact.

Partner Overview 

Partner organizations host Fellows in paid, substantive roles that support both the Fellow’s growth and the organization’s goals. While Fellows contribute to your mission, Princeton AlumniCorps provides a comprehensive curriculum and support network to enhance their learning experience. Selected partners will be expected to interview candidates, extend offers through Princeton AlumniCorps, and onboard confirmed Fellows. As a partner, your organization has a key role in the Fellow’s professional development, leadership journey, and capability to deliver projects in service to your mission.

  • A Proven Legacy – Project 55 remains a premier, trusted program after 35 years of administration, thousands of Princeton participants, and hundreds of program partnerships nation-wide. It is the most established post-baccalaureate program of its kind exclusively serving Princeton University. In 2025-2026, 85% of recruited partners had previously hosted Project 55 Fellows within the last 1-3 years.

Application Process
Our application process consists of the following steps:
  1. Online applications for 2026-27 are due by January 16th, 2026.
  2. Our selection committee will review applications on a rolling basis. We will prioritize partnerships who meet the acknowledgements outlined on page 2 of this application to host a P55 Fellow. Our committee will also communicate any questions regarding your application during this time. 
  3. If selected to move forward, you’ll schedule a call with a selection committee member to discuss your application and Fellowship position.
Before the program starts, all partner organizations must provide confirmation that they can meet salary and health insurance requirements, as outlined on the Princeton AlumniCorps website.
Project 55 Fellowship Program Timeline 

AlumniCorps invites organizations serving a variety of public causes and social impact fields to join our network. Most Project 55 Fellows work at partner organizations in the following areas: Development and Fundraising, Research and Policy, Program and Project Management, Marketing and Communications, and Executive Assistance. 


Project 55 Fellows live and work in the following city cohorts: Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. If your organization is located outside these city cohorts or is fully remote, please contact Tim Schmidt, tschmidt@alumnicorps.org, before submitting your application. AlumniCorps requires Fellows to work and/or live in one of the identified city cohorts.

Recruitment Timeline   

  • November 3rd, 2025: Project 55 Partner Application for 2026-2027 opens! 
  • November-January 2026: AlumniCorps Partner recruitment and engagement events. 
  • January 16th, 2026: Project 55 Partner Application closes for the 2026-27 program year.

Onboarding Timeline

  • January 2026: Applications reviewed on a rolling basis for position clarity and alignment. 
  • Late-January 2026: Required Project 55 Partner Onboarding Session- Virtual, Date To Be Determined. 

Fellow Interviewing and Selection Timeline

  • February-March 2026: Partners interview and evaluate Project 55 candidates for their available position(s).
  • March 23rd, 2026: Partners submit hire offers and Project 55 candidates accept or decline. 
  • April 17th, 2026: Project 55 Fellowship Cohort is finalized for the 2026-27 program year. 

All Project 55 Fellows are required to attend AlumniCorps’ Onboarding Retreat on Friday, May 15th, 2026. (No action needed by partners as this date is an FYI.)


Most Fellows are graduating on May 26th, 2026, and will need time to transition to their respective fellowship location. We require all Fellows to begin work by the end of August 2026 with exception on a case-by-case basis. AlumniCorps asks all partner organizations to honor this process and offer accommodations for Fellows as necessary.


While AlumniCorps strives to ensure a Project 55 Fellow is placed at your organization, there is no guarantee that a partner will have a Fellow in 2026-2027.

(a) Acknowledgement of Project 55 Partnership Expectations
Princeton AlumniCorps is dedicated to partnering with leaders and organizations that share our vision of equity and justice, are committed to the success of our programs, and prioritize providing Fellows with an enriching experience that makes a high-impact contribution to their organization’s mission.

Note: These conditions are not exhaustive. After being selected, all partner organizations will work with Princeton AlumniCorps and their Fellow(s) to co-create and sign a Partnership Agreement.


(b) Salary and Compensation Acknowledgement

Partner Organizations determine the salaries of their Fellows. Please note that Project 55 applicants do consider salaries in their decisions to accept fellowship positions. The following salaries are subject to a yearly adjustment based on a variety of economic and equitable factors.

AlumniCorps requires partners to pay Project 55 Fellows whichever is greater: a salary comparable with the organization’s rate for entry-level positions or the minimum salary listed below by location:

  • Bay Area: $54,500
  • New York: $46,500
  • Chicago: $42,450
  • Washington, DC: $46,500
  • Boston: $44,100
  • New Jersey: $46,500
  • Philadelphia: $46,500

Note: Salary, benefits, and healthcare information will be required if your organization is selected as a P55 Fellowship Partner. This information will be shared in our Partner Directory, where Fellows select potential organizations for their placement.

(c) Health Insurance Acknowledgement
Partner Organizations are responsible for providing Project 55 Fellows with employer health insurance. Fellows will be responsible for any co-pays or out-of-network costs as applicable through your organization’s health insurance coverage. 

Partner organizations that require an employee contribution toward health insurance may require the same of their Fellow as long as the agency increases the Fellow’s stipend to offset this cost. For example, if the Fellow contributes $35 to their health insurance each paycheck, their paycheck should be increased by $35 to offset that cost.

Partner organizations have been able to provide Fellows with health insurance in the following ways: 
  • Option 1: Health insurance provided, with 100% of premiums covered
  • Option 2: Health insurance provided, with a salary increase to offset premium costs
  • Option 3: Partners provide a stipend or reimbursement to Fellows to purchase coverage through HealthCare.gov.
  • Option 4: Fellow opts out of coverage due to existing insurance through family or partner

(d) Additional Benefits Acknowledgement

Project 55 Fellows are recent college graduates embarking on their careers in nonprofit organizations through entry-level, full-time positions. At Princeton AlumniCorps, we value the unique lived experiences of our Fellows and the strengths of our Partner Organizations. Our commitment is to ensure that Fellows can thrive financially and prioritize their health and wellness throughout the program year, fostering an equitable and sustainable livelihood. When Fellows succeed, their contributions to our Partners’ missions and programs flourish.


We encourage Partner Organizations, where organizational capacity allows, to extend employee benefits to Fellows that are comparable to those offered to other full-time employees.


These benefits may include, but are not limited to:
  1. Commuter or travel reimbursements
  2. Access to retirement savings accounts
  3. Technology stipends
  4. Opportunities for professional development and networking through organizational funds



Section 2: General Contact Information

Organization Contact and Team
The organization's primary contact will receive detailed information regarding the application cycle and any relevant referral materials.

If this contact is not the Fellow's expected supervisor, the Princeton AlumniCorps team will confirm the details before the onboarding process. Additionally, any supervisors who are new to hosting a Fellow will be required to schedule an introductory call with Princeton AlumniCorps should a Fellow be placed with your organization.

Please utilize this section to upload the Project 55 positions you wish to fill this year. You can submit up to five positions. If you would like to upload more than five, please contact our team for assistance.


We encourage you to use your organization’s HR template for position descriptions or take advantage of our free template here: Project 55 Fellow Position Description Template.


Position descriptions are essential for articulating why a Fellow should choose to work with your organization. Feel free to market the opportunities and highlight the unique aspects of your organization!


Position descriptions should explicitly include:

  • Supervisor(s) Names: Clearly identify who the Fellow will report to.
  • Operating Hours & Location: Please provide the anticipated work schedule, including specific hours and the designated area of work.
  • Role Responsibilities and Skills: Outline all responsibilities and the skills needed to effectively perform the job duties.
  • Salary and Healthcare Benefits: Include compensation details and healthcare benefits available to the Fellow.
  • Growth Opportunities: Detail how a Fellow may grow or contribute to social impact as a result of their work with your organization.

Additionally, please include an Equal Employment Opportunity Statement and demonstrate your organization's commitments to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging in the workplace.


You do not need to include a "How to Apply" section, as our fellowship process will facilitate candidate applications for your positions.
