2026 Jim Pattison Young Visionary Award - $2,500

Award Description

The Jim Pattison Young Visionary Award recognizes a high school student who, through participation in a JA Program, has demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and a meaningful commitment to using business as a tool to create lasting community impact.


The award recipient will receive $2,500 to support their diverse educational or other needs and will be invited to attend the BLBC Hall of Fame Gala Dinner & Induction Ceremonies on June 8, 2026, in Vancouver. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this award, the nominee must:
  • Be a current student in Grades 10–12 at the time of application.
  • Have participated in a JA Program within the past two years.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial mindset, leadership, and community impact, in their school, community or elsewhere.
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and reside in British Columbia.
Requirements

Students may self-nominate or be nominated by educators or JA volunteers and must also:
  • Complete the online application
  • Submit a 90-second video and a personal statement (details below)
  • Complete the Media Consent Form.
If selected, award recipients will be expected to commit to the following activities:
  • Attend the BLBC Hall of Fame Gala Dinner & Induction Ceremonies on June 8, 2026, in Vancouver
  • Provide a headshot and brief biography (100 words max.) outlining your educational background and involvement with JA

Topic for Video and Personal Statement
Applications include a short written statement (up to 500 words) and a video submission (up to 90 seconds) addressing the following:
  • The entrepreneurial challenge or opportunity you addressed through your venture or business, including your role in leading the venture or team.
  • The community issue, challenge, or opportunity you addressed through your venture or business, demonstrated through how your enterprise aligns with philanthropic values or mission and/or the impact of your work on your peers, school, or community.
  • How you will apply your most important learnings from the JA program in school, work, or your community.
