Forklift Safety & Certification – Interest Form

This interest form is for IAM District 751 and W24 members who would like to enroll in the Forklift Safety & Certification offered by the Machinists Institute.

Please note: Submitting this form does not guarantee placement. Registrants will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. If space becomes available, you will be contacted by the Machinists Institute directly.

Course Description

This course introduces new operators to essential driving skills, load‑handling techniques, and the core safety practices required to work confidently in warehouse and industrial environments. Successful completion of this course qualifies participants for forklift certification through the Machinists Institute.


Basic Skills Covered:

  • Overview of Forklift Types and Basic Functions
  • Forklift Controls and Maneuvering Techniques
  • Stability Triangle, Load Center, and Tip‑Over Prevention
  • Safe Load Handling, Stacking, and Transport
  • Daily Pre‑Operation Inspections
  • Basic Maintenance Awareness

Please Note: No prior manufacturing or machining experience is required for this course.

Schedule and Location
Courses are offered in morning, evening, and Saturday formats to accommodate various work shifts. Final class times will be confirmed based on interest and availability.

  • AM Option:
    8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Schedule TBD)

  • PM Option:
    3:00 PM – 7:00 PM (Schedule TBD)

  • Saturday Option:
    8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Schedule TBD)

Participants who earn a passing score will receive a certificate of completion
