I'm Speaking is an AAPI-centered comic book produced by the New York Immigration Coalition in partnership with Yuna Youn (Korean Community Services) and illustrator Anusha Morshed. This comic book centers the immigrant child experience with a focus on first-generation and second-generation children of immigrants and is intended for ages 14+. While navigating issues such as AAPI hate and cultural dynamics, it amplifies the power of community and mental support. I'm Wide Awake is an AAPI-centered comic book produced by the New York Immigration Coalition in partnership with Yuna Youn (Korean Community Services) and illustrator Anusha Morshed. This comic is inspired by the history of immigration and intended to address how current events may be experienced by youth. Drawing from the youth organization, the Wide Awakes, to modern-day elections, the characters raise important questions and provide psychoeducation and educational resources. Through Lincoln era youth organizing, high school hallways, and Constitutional Law class, the teacher, counselors, and youth model ways to provide support and care, all while building community and hope. Youth and adults alike can use the comic to reflect on how communities and service organizations navigate the various institutions and policies that directly impact their future and well-being. The NYIC's Mental Health Guide walks through what to do and whom to contact to identify the right level of care and service needed, including community care. This guide was developed with a particular focus on the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, in partnership with Korean Community Services.
