The Marfan Foundation has several scholarship opportunities in 2026, thanks to the generous support of our donors. Please review the types of financial assistance available and complete the following application to be considered. You may apply for more than one type of funding at the same time.

Travel Scholarships

The Sholton-Witte Access to Care Travel Scholarship Program provides financial assistance for medical-related travel, including such activities as surgery, procedures, and expert consultations; research-related travel, such as participation in clinical trials or studies; and travel to in-person Marfan Foundation programs, including camps and symposia.

We are so grateful to the Sholton and Witte families for enabling the Marfan Foundation and its divisions to better fulfill our mission by increasing equitable access to healthcare.

Camp Victory Registration Scholarships

Scholarships are available to cover the registration fees for Camp Victory for Kids and Camp Victory for Families in Georgia and California. The registration fee includes all program-related activities, lodging, and meals.

Applying for a Travel Scholarship Award
  • Complete the online application demonstrating financial need. This includes responding to questions related to Medicaid, Social Security Disability, health insurance coverage, and SNAP benefits, as well as outlining how funds will be used, and providing estimated travel costs.
  •  Scholarships of up to $500 per individual or $1,000 per family (from the same household) are awarded based on demonstrated financial need and available funding. The full amount is not guaranteed.
  • Applications should include the actual dollar amount requested based on real estimates (for example, $427.50 for a flight from FL to GA, car service to and from the airports, and one night in a hotel in GA). While documents are not required, they may be requested.   Applications must be for travel not yet taken. Reimbursement of expenses already incurred are not allowed.
  • Applications must be for eligible travel expenses.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1)  If the travel expenses for my family are $1,800 can I still apply for a scholarship?

Yes! Please apply for the actual amount needed but understand that $1,000 is the maximum you may receive.

    2) If I need assistance with travel to multiple doctor appointments, do I need to submit a separate application for each trip?

No, please submit one application with the total amount needed; just specify the details in the space provided.

    3) If my child is having surgery and I need to stay in a hotel, is that covered or would she have to be staying there, too?

Caregiver travel expenses are eligible for coverage, so your hotel would be included.

    4) I already booked a flight for my upcoming surgery appointment. Can I still apply?

No, scholarships are available for expenses not already paid and for travel not yet taken. You are welcome to apply for future travel needs.
