The Student Government Association is comprised of elected collegewide SGA 
Council members, campus-specific SGA Activity Board members, and campus-specific Student Ambassadorsall of whom aim to provide a fun, inclusive, and memorable college experience for all EFSC students. We accept applications to campus-based positions year-round.

Collegewide SGA Council Applications to run for a council office for the 2026-2027 academic year are due by 11:59 PM on Tuesday, April 14th, using the form below. The voting period will take place from April 20th to 26th, closing at 11:59 PM. 

Applications for Campus-Specific SGA Activity Boards and Student Ambassadors are accepted year-round and are open for the 2026-2027 academic year on a separate form: Apply for a campus-based position.

Each SGA position has different eligibility requirements, responsibilities, and application processes. Select the position you are interested in applying to in the form below to view more information. All applicants are expected to review the online campaign rules before applying.


Position Information

SGA Council President

SGA Council members are selected through open elections every spring, with elected candidates taking office during the following academic year (August through May).


Eligibility Requirements


To be eligible to run for an SGA Council position, you must:

  • Be enrolled in and maintain at least 6 credit hours at EFSC during both the ​Fall and Spring Terms,
  • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (if you have not completed college coursework, your most recent, unweighted high school GPA will be used),
  • Be able to commit 10-15 hours each week to the elected position during both the Fall and Spring Terms,
  • Not be a Dual Enrolled or Early Admission program student,
  • Not be an officer of another campus club
  • Complete the SGA application and interview by any published deadlines
  • Candidates must maintain a clean disciplinary record, including no Student Code of Conduct violations, and must not have been previously sanctioned or removed from any Student Government Association Role.
  • Commit to abide by campaign guidelines.
  • Final eligibility to be determined by the Associate Dean of Student Life.
Responsibilities

SGA Council members voice the interests, concerns, and needs of students on campus and online to the college administration. The Council belongs to the Florida College System Student Government Association (FCSSGA), which serves as the representative voice of Florida colleges throughout the state. Each year, SGA Council members can travel to the annual FCSSGA state convention, regional meetings, and leadership retreats across Florida.

The SGA Council President reports to the Associate Dean of Student Life and is responsible for leading all formal meetings of the SGA Council and serving as the SGA representative to collegewide committees as requested. As a result, the President will have the opportunity to work with various segments of EFSC. The President's duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve as the lead in conducting business meetings in which approval for budgets and travel requests are reviewed (Note: In accordance with the SGA Constitution and Handbook, the SGA Council President will only vote in case of a tie)
  • Work with the Student Life Coordinators and the Associate Dean of Student Life to create agendas for all meetings based on campus activities requests
  • Work with the Associate Dean of Student Life to set dates for all SGA-related meetings and travel
  • Serve as liaison between the Student Government Association and Administration
  • Serve as lead for campus initiatives brought forth by EFSC students
  • Actively contribute ideas, thoughts, feedback, etc. on all SGA-related government policies, events, student concerns, and funding requests
  • Upholding and abiding by the SGA Handbook, SGA Constitution, and the EFSC Student Code of Conduct.

SGA Council Vice President

  • Attending all SGA Council meetings as scheduled and voting to represent the best interests of the student body,
  • Monitoring, in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Student Life, the publicity and promotion (e.g. social media, emails, flyers, creative advertising, and website) for all SGA events and activities
  • Working closely with the Associate Dean of Student Life to coordinate the distribution of SGA Council information
  • Provide support to fellow SGA Council members
  • Actively contributing ideas, thoughts, feedback, etc. on all SGA-related activities, events, student concerns, and funding requests
  • Upholding and abiding by the SGA HandbookSGA Constitution, and the EFSC Student Code of Conduct.

The SGA Council Secretary reports to the Associate Dean of Student Life and is responsible for all internal communications and record-keeping within the SGA Council. The Secretary's duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Attending all SGA Council meetings as scheduled and voting to represent the best interests of the student body,
  • Publishing the agenda for each meeting (as received by the SGA Council President) and submitting it to all representatives prior to each meeting,
  • Taking minutes at all meetings and distributing them via email to all members and attendees within 48 hours,
  • Maintaining hard copy and electronic meeting agendas and minutes within the SGA Office for all E-Board and Business meetings throughout the year
  • Creating contact lists for all Council members and managing the e-mail distribution list
  • Maintaining a hard copy sign-in sheet for all SGA-related meetings and compiling accurate attendance records and reports for the Associate Dean of Student Life
  • Providing support to fellow SGA Council members
  • Actively contributing ideas, thoughts, feedback, etc. on all SGA-related activities, events, student concerns, and funding requests
  • Upholding and abiding by the SGA HandbookSGA Constitution, and the EFSC Student Code of Conduct.

  • Attending all SGA Council meetings as scheduled and voting to represent the best interests of the student body,
  • Assisting the Associate Dean of Student Life to maintain all budget proposals and funding requests within the SGA Office,
  • Assisting the Associate Dean of Student Life to track the SGA budget throughout the year,
  • Providing an up-to-date and accurate Treasurer Report at all SGA Council meetings,
  • Safekeeping all SGA financial documents, articles, and records,
  • Providing support to fellow SGA Council members,
  • Actively contributing ideas, thoughts, feedback, etc. on all SGA-related policies, events, student concerns, and funding requests, and
  • Upholding and abiding by the SGA HandbookSGA Constitution, and the EFSC Student Code of Conduct.

  • Attending all SGA Council meetings as scheduled and voting to represent the best interests of the student body,
  • Working with Student Life Coordinators to maintain and uphold the SGA Constitution and the SGA Handbook,
  • Maintaining hard and electronic copies of up-to-date SGA and campus club constitutions and bylaws documents within the SGA Office,
  • Ensuring that all SGA Council meetings follow parliamentary procedures in accordance with the most recent edition of Robert's Rules of Order,
  • Serving as the timekeeper at all SGA Council meetings to ensure they are conducted in a timely manner,
  • Providing support to fellow SGA Council members,
  • Actively contributing ideas, thoughts, feedback, etc. on all SGA-related policies, events, student concerns, and funding requests, and
  • Upholding and abiding by the SGA HandbookSGA Constitution, and the EFSC Student Code of Conduct.

  • I understand that I may not serve as an SGA Activity Board member or Student Ambassador for more than one campus, but that I may be a write-in candidate for any office lacking a qualified candidate as determined by a campus Student Life Coordinator and/or the Associate Dean of Student Life.

  • If selected, I agree to serve the student body to the utmost of my abilities in accordance with the responsibilities of my position, as well as any other duties assigned to me.

  • I agree to uphold and abide by the SGA Handbook, the SGA Constitution, and the EFSC Student Code of Conduct.

  • I agree and commit to being available for the minimum hour requirements of the position for which I am applying (to include meetings, office hours, events, travel, etc.) during both the Fall and Spring Terms.
