Operation Unity Shield is funded by the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP). This program honors the memory of SSG Fox, an Army sniper instructor known for his leadership and generosity, who tragically died by suicide in 2020 at age 25.

Authorized by the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act, this grant enables community organizations to extend the VA’s reach, offering urgent, non-clinical suicide prevention services right in our neighborhoods.
