Redefine Alliance Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in the Redefine Alliance!

This form is a "nice to meet you" and a starting point for building a relationship with Redefine Alliance, including through our Community, programs, funding opportunities, and broader ecosystem efforts. It should take about 10 minutes to complete and can be filled out on any device.

For businesses and employment social enterprises (ESEs), joining the Redefine Alliance Community is typically the first step to engaging more deeply with our programs and opportunities. Based on your responses, we may follow up with other relevant opportunities or ways to engage.

The Redefine Alliance Community exists, completely free of cost, to bring leaders together: a space for employment social enterprises and inclusive employment practitioners to connect with peers who truly understand the realities of this work. It’s a trusted network where you can ask hard questions, share openly, and get practical support from people who have been there.

We look forward to learning more about you!

Earned revenue is defined as revenue generated by selling goods or services, and tied to the employment provided by your ESE. This does not include revenue that is contributed, such as donations or grants, or revenue generated by activities that do not include employment of individuals with barriers, such as rental income. Government funding can qualify as earned revenue depending on the type of funding. If it is a government contract that procures business services from your ESE, then Redefine Alliance would consider that as earned revenue. If it is a government grant or contract that subsidizes wages or other program costs NOT in return for products or services, then Redefine Alliance does not consider that as earned revenue.

Enter the total number of people currently employed by your organization, including full-time and part-time employees. Do not include volunteers or independent contractors.

Impact Info

Redefine Alliance supports employers/organizations serving the following communities. For more detailed definitions on these lived experiences, click here.
  • People with Justice System Involvement (i.e. individuals who have been arrested, convicted of a crime and/or spent time in prison)
  • People with Experiences of Homelessness/Housing Instability (i.e. people who are or have been homeless, sought emergency shelter, or do not have a fixed/regular residence)
  • People with a Mental Health Challenge (i.e. major depression, anxiety, mood disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, or schizophrenia)
  • People with a Substance Use Issue (i.e. those whose substance use impacts/impacted their daily functioning, including ability to work, and those who seeked treatment)
  • Opportunity Youth/Emerging Adult (i.e. young adults between the ages of 16-24 who have been disconnected from work and school),
  • Refugees/Asylees
  • People Who Have Experienced Domestic Violence (i.e. experienced behaviors meant to maintain power and control, including violence, abuse, threats, intimidation and financial control)
  • People Who Have Experienced Trafficking (i.e. forced, coerced, or deceived into working)

These focus populations are centered around experience that impact an individual's ability to obtain or maintain employment

We define "employer of record" as the employer who hires and employs W-2 or 1099 employees.

Include the number of individuals overcoming barriers to employment, which your organization employs either in a transitional jobs program or in permanent jobs, and who are actively receiving supports or services to overcome their barriers. Do NOT include individuals who are staff members, and who are not/no longer receiving supports or services to address their employment barriers.

Examples of employee supportive services include: training and skill development initiatives, resources and supports such as mental health counseling, financial education, access to food, housing, transportation assistance, work-related supplies, etc.

Government Partnerships & Ecosystems

Lasting change doesn’t happen in isolation. That’s why we build place-based ecosystems — networks of social enterprises, inclusive employers, public agencies, funders, and social service partners that expand opportunity for the people most excluded from the economy. We’re focusing our ecosystem-building work in three regions at present, Los Angeles, Illinois, and Central Appalachia — each offering a unique path to scale. However, not being located in one of our ecosystem priority areas doesn’t make you ineligible to join Redefine's Community.

Impact Lending

One of Redefine Alliance’s programs is Impact Lending, which funds lines of credit, bridge loans, term loans, and other types of repayable capital to help grow your business. The following questions are specific to that program’s eligibility.

Demographics

The next questions are about the demographic makeup of your company’s leadership team.

You’ll see terms like “leadership team” and “lived experience” referenced below. “Leadership Team” represents whatever you could consider the top decision-making body of your organization. “Lived experience” means life circumstances that represent a barrier to employment.

Why do we ask this?

At Redefine Alliance, we envision a thriving and inclusive society where all people have the jobs and the support they need to realize their full potential. The unique backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences that our staff, consultants, and partners bring inform our work and help us move towards this vision. We also seek to consciously engage with ESE leaders and consultants who identify as BIPOC or individuals with lived experience because it more broadly supports Redefine’s commitment to increase representation and inclusion of those who have historically been underrepresented in the field. With that in mind, this form includes a few leadership demographic questions.

Data Privacy: Information collected through this process will be maintained in a safe and secure manner by Redefine Alliance. Redefine will not disclose individual level demographic information but does reserve the right to share anonymized, aggregate level data that does not identify the individual(s) providing this information.
