What is FutureReady?

FutureReady is a programme that aims to help you thrive in the competitive graduate job market of the future. Powered by Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman and supported by CIMB Foundation, FutureReady is where you will get the chance to upskill yourself from ground zero in key areas vital to success in your future.

You can expect FutureReady to include:

5 months of fully-funded physical and virtual Conferences based in Kuala Lumpur.
Access to specialised content, hands-on workshops, and skills mentorship.
Opportunity to network and grow with cohort mates from various states, universities and areas of study across Malaysia.
A chance to develop your own professional identity that is able to adapt to the future of work.
A chance to build real experience for your portfolios through developing actionable solutions to real societal issues.

We especially encourage applications from students who are new to employability and professional development programmes, or exploring these opportunities for the first time.

Commitments

Selected participants must be able to commit to attending 3 physical Conferences and 2 virtual events.

All programme costs, which include transportation, meals and accommodations, will be waived for all selected participants.

Application Process

Please follow these steps:

Please prepare a PDF copy of your latest academic results (maximum 10MB) and a PDF copy of a proof of income from each financially contributing household member (maximum 10MB) before starting this application form. You will require this information when answering the form, and the FutureReady team may further contact you for additional information.
Check "Save my progress and resume later" at the top of this page to be able to save your progress. The organisers are not liable for unsaved forms.
This programme will be primarily conducted in English and the form must be completed in English.
Applicants will be asked to answer two essay questions. Both questions will require written answers.
Applicants will also asked to submit a 1-2 minute self-introduction video. Applicants must ensure that public access is granted for video links provided.
You will receive a confirmation email if we have received your application. YTAR will not entertain any incomplete applications after applications have closed.

We will contact successful shortlisted applicants for the next stage of interviews via email. If we are unable to reach you via email, we may do so by phone.

Part C - Essay Questions
This section takes 30-50 minutes.

Take your time here to think before answering.

At YTAR, we celebrate our participants' individual potential, so it is vital that your application fully reflects who you are. You would not be penalised for the usage of generative AI models, but the content produced through generative AI should not replace the substance of your essays. An application that lacks a human, personal touch often fails to convey the qualities we look for in our participants. It is ultimately in your best interest to write in your own voice, as your thoughts and personal writing style allow our assessors to gain a better picture of who you are.

Please draft and save your essay responses elsewhere before saving or submitting your application on this platform.

Please answer every question in one paragraph (Maximum 250 words per question).

Question 1 - Motivation To Apply

Why do you want to participate in FutureReady? In your answer, please explain your motivations for applying as well as what you hope to achieve from joining this program. Be as detailed as you can in 250 words.

Question 2 - Conflict/Self-Learning

There are two questions in this section, but you only need to answer 1 question.
You can choose to answer either Question 2a OR Question 2b.

Question 2a - Share with us a time where you had encountered a conflict/disagreement when working with others. In your answer, please explain what the conflict was, why it happened and the steps you took to resolve that conflict. Be as detailed as you can in 250 words.

Question 2b - Share with us a time you had to learn a new skill on your own. In your answer, please explain what the skill was, why you chose to learn that skill, and how you learnt the skill. Be as detailed as you can in 250 words.

Question 3 - Introduction Video

In a 1-2 minute unedited video, introduce yourself and share with us an area of interest you have that you want to develop or learn through this programme. You can share more about yourself and what that area of interest is. Reflect on why developing this area is important to you.

You do not require a professional setup or any additional editing in your video. Being able to see your face and hear your voice is the most important technical part of the video!

Failure to submit your video submission or set your video submission to public access may result in your application being disqualified. Please ensure that you have inputted the correct link below.
