Celebrate the Year to Volunteer

As part of National Volunteer Week 2026 (18–24 May), the CBAA is shining a spotlight on the incredible volunteers who make community radio possible. This year’s theme, Your Year to Volunteer, is a great reminder of the value of volunteering and an opportunity to encourage greater volunteer participation.

We’re inviting community broadcasters to nominate a volunteer who helps build connections, whether it’s through language, culture, music, storytelling or service. From First Nations broadcasters sharing culture and language, to multicultural presenters bridging communities, to volunteers helping listeners discover local live music - every story counts.

The winning nominee will receive a scholarship to attend the 2026 CBAA Conference, including registration, Gala Dinner access, accommodation and travel support.

Nominations must be submitted by someone else and approved by the station’s manager. Station managers may self-nominate with board member verification.

Take a moment to recognise someone at your station who connects communities in a meaningful way - we can’t wait to hear their story.
