About Musical Mentors Exploration

Musical Mentors Exploration (MME) partners with schools and community organizations to provide musical enrichment and opportunities for students to explore instruments, genres, and performance through weekly group classes. Students of all interests and skill levels build foundational musical skills using accessible instruments that allow them to begin playing and performing quickly. Dedicated teaching artists expand students’ knowledge over time by introducing new instruments, reinforcing prior learning, and creating opportunities for both individual and group music-making.

Students enrolled in MME may apply to receive free small-group or private lessons on an instrument of their choice through MMC’s Musical Mentors Academy program. These exploration lessons can inspire students to take the next step in their musical journey.

While we aim to serve every applicant, we limit each group class to 25 students to ensure individualized attention for every participant. MMC prioritizes participation for students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to engage in music enrichment opportunities.

Please visit the Musical Mentors Exploration website for full program information, including class calendars for the school year.

Help Us Understand Your Student

Please help us better understand your student, their learning style, and how we can best approach group classes to meet your student's needs.

These questions WILL NOT affect your student's admission decision. MMC's programs are built to be inclusive of all learners.
All students are welcome in Musical Mentors Exploration classes.

Both neurotypical and neurodivergent students need individualized attention and classes that are structured to work for them.

Neurodivergent students often need additional support and attention to be successful in a group-class setting. MMC recognizes that the neurodivergent spectrum is broad, and differences can range from mild to requiring significant support. Some of the conditions that are most common among those who describe themselves as neurodivergent include:
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)
  • Learning Disabilities or specific conditions that impact learning, such as dyslexia, dysgrahpia, or dyscalculia
  • Mental health conditions, like bipolar disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Other Differences: Conditions like dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome, sensory processing disorder, or Down syndrome

The more we know about your child and their learning needs, the better we can serve them and meet those needs!
