Join the OUTscouts for a fun filled day trip! Join us in delving into the amazing underground world of caves in Tucson!

For this trip, we will make our way to Cochise Country where we will be stopping in the Kartchner Caverns State Park. From there we will be guided through a tour of the Throne Room / Rotunda of the Caverns.

This trip is open to all youth regardless of experience level or previous participation in OUTscouts trips!

Please note: The underground temperature in the caverns will be moderate (roughly 70°F) so layers may or may not be needed depending on your personal need. Items included: bag/backpacks/fanny packs, binoculars & flashlights, cameras & phones, and food/drinks will not be allowed in the caverns. We can leave them in the van or store them in a group locker on site before our tour.

When: September 25th from 9am to 5pm

We will plan on building "sack" lunches to bring with us on this trip as well as eating before embarking on our guided tour. If you would like to bring your own lunch, please let either Kieren or Angel know beforehand!

For ages 14 - 24 years old

We'll meet at the Youth Center the morning of September 25th and return later that evening. Transportation will be provided from the Youth Center. A more detailed timeline and packing list will be shared with everyone who is accepted as we approach the date for this event!

We will enjoy at least an hour of cave time with lots of information about underground cave formation processes, geology and cave ecology! It is recommended to bring closed toed shoes and any warm layers you feel you may need. If you need any gear, please let us know!

Folks who apply before September 1st, will be considered early applications and will be notified the following week of acceptance. Folks applying after this date will be accepted on a rolling basis until all spots are filled. Those on the waitlist will be notified, so if you have the option to leave your schedule open, spots may become available closer to the trip date!
