See how to collect, categorize, and record litter data for your community using KTB tools. Hands-on learning that turns trash into insight! This will be a hands-on activity that will include an outdoor cleanup, so wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather!

Youth in the Future of Conservation

This presentation explores how local environmental programs can inspire youth to become active stewards of their communities. Through real-world examples, attendees will learn practical approaches to engaging young people, building community partnerships, and creating meaningful conservation initiatives. The session is designed to spark ideas that participants can adapt within their own organizations and communities. An interactive Q&A will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, ask questions, and discuss new approaches to youth engagement and conservation.

Native Plants - Small to Large Spaces
Cheryl Folkes, Texas Master Naturalist
Using native Texas plants in public gardens saves water, protects local wildlife, and displays regional beauty. This presentation explores how public spaces of all sizes can use native flora to educate visitors and create sustainable, low maintenance landscapes that thrive in the local climate. Cheryl Folkes is a lifelong Texas gardener with a passion for native plants. A Texas Master Naturalist (since 2010) , she holds leadership roles with the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) Clear Lake Chapter and the state NPSOT Native Plants in Schools Committee. Cheryl also coordinates local grants for Native Pollinator Habitats in Public Spaces.  She  has completed all four levels of the NPSOT Native Landscape Certification Program(NLCP) as well as Native Landscape for Birds and helps instruct the NLCP Level I-Introduction to Native Landscapes course.
