Community Engagement
Community engagement is a great way to integrate into your community. You are required to complete at least 30 hours during the program year. Check out your Student Handbook for more information.

At the beginning of September, each student will receive a link via email to your individual tracker in Google Sheets. Here you will be able to track your hours at any time. The International Student Support Team, your host family, and your local coordinator will also have access to these trackers throughout the year.

Keep your hours up to date! Each month when reports go out we will show the Community Engagement Leaders Leaderboard with the top 3 students who have earned the most hours so far overall as well as the top student in each program. Make sure you are submitting photos in the community engagement section each month, or send them to Inbound at anytime, so that we can share to our social media accounts to recognize your great work!
Student Finances, Tax Forms, and Health Insurance

  • US Bank Card: In the welcome packet sent to your host family before your arrival, there is an envelope with a US Bank debit card and important information included.
  • This is an “instant issue” card with a unique ID associated with you.
  • Money will be deposited by American Councils directly onto your card (monthly stipends and incidental and/or medical reimbursements). You don’t have to open a bank account. ONLY American Councils can add money to your card.
  • Please make sure you have read ALL the information included in the envelope that came with the card and ask your host family about the FAQ included in the welcome packet.

Here are links for the Incidentals Reimbursement Form and Medical Payments and Reimbursements Form online. You can also find these forms on the student portal.
