AMSI is pleased to partner with UNSW to host AMSI Summer School 2027 from 11 January to 5 February at their Kensington Campus, and online.

Application process
  1. Complete and submit this form
  2. Pay the application fee via the AMSI Eventbrite payment gateway (you will be redirected after form submission)
 Study options

  • Choose one or two subjects - view subject guides
  • With home university permission, students can gain credit for one subject.
For credit students
  • Discuss with your Honours/Masters/Program Coordinator to confirm your eligibility and the process you need to follow, in addition to the AMSI Summer School application form, to receive a credit. e.g. enrolling in a shell subject. AMSI subjects are not a cross-institutional enrolment. 
  • Students taking a subject for credit will be liable for applicable tuition fees at their home university, in addition to the AMSI Summer School application fee.

Subject details

Subject allocation is based on availability. While we will try to accommodate your first choice, please provide an alternative preference as class sizes are limited. 




It is your responsibility to discuss with your home university about eligibility, process and any additional requirements to take a subject for credit.



Student Travel Grants
AMSI Travel Grants are available for students enrolled at AMSI Member Universities. Grants cover
  • On campus student accommodation at New College Postgraduate Village, Kensington (2-4 weeks) booked and paid for by AMSI. Grant recipients must participate in-person for the entire funded period.
  • Funding to assist with the cost of return travel from home city to Sydney. Applications for travel assistance can be made via a separate form - ss.amsi.org.au/travel-grants
Grants do not cover Summer School application fees. 

Priority will be given to female, First Nations, and rural, regional and remote students.

AMSI Funding Support

Accommodation
Grant recipients will receive up to 26 nights accommodation booked and paid for by AMSI at New College Postgraduate Village, an on-campus student college only a short walk from the Summer School lecture rooms. Students will have their own furnished room with an ensuite and self-contained kitchenette. Linen and internet are included.

You are encouraged to participate in-person for all four weeks to maximise your Summer School experience, however, can opt for combination of in-person and virtual formats. Grant recipients are required to participate in-person for a minimum of two consecutive weeks.

Travel
Applications for travel assistance can be made via a separate form. Please see ss.amsi.org.au/travel-grants for more information.

You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to and from Sydney



Attach a letter of support (PDF files only) from your current supervisor/program coordinator or head of department that outlines their support of your grant application and participation at Summer School, as well as outlining any other funding resources,
Note: If your supervisor, course coordinator or head of department prefers to send their letter of support directly to AMSI, they can do so by emailing coordinator_rhed@amsi.org.au. In this case, please upload a document saying your letter of support will be sent directly to AMSI. It is your responsibility to ensure that this letter is submitted on your behalf by the application deadline, 11.59pm, Sunday 25 October.

Attach a transcript or statement of results outlining grades received throughout your current/most recent degree. Screenshots will be accepted. PDF files only.
Event Details
You are strongly encouraged to attend in-person at UNSW Sydney to maximise your Summer School experience, however virtual participation is also available.

Note: While AMSI and UNSW Sydney will endeavour to provide the best experience possible for virtual participants, not all of the elements of the program will be available remotely, and some functions may be limited.
