DermLink Grant 2027 application form

Thank you for your interest in applying for a 2027 DermLink Grant.

The International Foundation for Dermatology (IFD) was created by the ILDS in 1987 to carry out our humanitarian work, and supports projects in Africa, Asia Pacific and South America. The IFD is critical to helping ILDS achieve its goal of #SkinHealth4theWorld.

The DermLink Grants is an IFD programme that seeks to support applications from ILDS Member, Affiliated and Observer Societies ("ILDS Members") to undertake initiatives that help patients with skin disease in underserved parts of the world. We welcome applications from anywhere in the world, however, all applications need to be supported by an ILDS Member. 


There are three grant types you can apply for:
  1. Materials & Equipment - Up to US$3,000 for dermatological materials and equipment
  2. Training - Up to US$3,000 for short-term dermatological training for an individual 
  3. Field or Community Project - Up to US$5,000 for projects in resource poor regions lasting no more than 12 months
The DermLink Grants are awarded on a competitive basis following consideration by the IFD Committee and ratification by the ILDS Board.

Criteria include identified needs, impact for investment and sustainability.

Please read the following guidelines carefully before completing your application:
  1. Applications must be made by or supported an ILDS Member in good standing (membership fees are paid and up to date as at the deadline of submission); a supporting letter from an ILDS Member is required as part of the application
  2. Applications must be submitted in English, the official language of the ILDS
  3. Applications must assist dermatology in low-resource areas 
  4. Projects addressing Tropical Dermatology or Migration Health are encouraged 
  5. In order to be considered for a DermLink Grant, you must show how you will adapt your project in the event of restrictions or disruption caused by unexpected events such as natural disasters, pandemics or epidemics, political crises, and other events
  6. Successful applicants must acknowledge the grant in all related activities including publications
  7. Successful applicants will be expected to commit to ILDS/IFD reporting requirements 
  8. The project are expected to start before March 2027, project expecting to start after that date will not be considered. All funds must be used within 12 months of being awarded 
  9. Only one application per ILDS Member per year is permitted. If an ILDS Member is supporting more than one application, all applications are at risk of being disqualified. Please reach out to your supporting ILDS Member prior to submitting your application

  10. Previously supported projects will not be considered 
  11. Collaborations between organisations and/or countries are welcomed 
  12. The collaborating organisation applying for the funds will need to have a bank account that accepts funds in US Dollars. Funds will not be paid into a personal bank account 
  13. The grant should not be used for any research project
  14. The grant should not be used as travel bursary for attending conferences
  15. We welcome applications from Patient Organisation.

  • How much is the training and the associated costs?

  • Please note travel grants to conferences will not be considered.
3.    Field or Community Project
  • Please provide details about the methods that will be used for this project, whether it will be a medical intervention, an educational programme or workshop or others. Please note this grant is not for any research projects.
