The selection of runners for the 2027 Samaritans Boston Marathon Team is competitive and applications will be evaluated based on each applicant’s proposed fundraising commitment/plan, personal story, connection to the organization and mission, and commitment to completing the marathon.

Our continued participation as a partner with the Boston Athletic Association's Charity Program in the Boston Marathon is largely based upon our team’s fundraising success. Our team’s fundraising represents a significant portion of Samaritans’ operating budget, allowing us to serve more people.

It is very important that runners on our team fulfill their fundraising commitments. We require a minimum fundraising commitment of $12,000/runner, with the understanding that at least one 20% of your commitment ($2,500) must be met by January 8, 2027 in order for us to release your Boston Marathon registration to you. We require that you submit a credit card number which will be charged for any shortfall toward your final $12,000 commitment which is due by May 14, 2027.

As this is a competitive selection process, please be sure to complete every answer thoroughly. Fundraising Commitment and Plan
Team Samaritans runners are required to commit to raising at least $12,000. Your fundraising commitment is what you hope to raise - it may be $12,000 or it may be more. Setting an ambitious, yet realistic, fundraising commitment is very important as team members who do not meet their $12,000 minimum commitment jeopardize Samaritans' chances of receiving entries from the Boston Marathon in the future. We require team members to submit credit card information to meet any shortfall.

This is the amount that you hope to raise. We encourage runners to aim for a goal higher than their financial commitment.
