- Training: To New Heights: “Changing the Narrative” to Build Stronger Resources and Support for Systems-Impacted Youth and Young Adults. Negative narratives about systems-impacted young people can often come between the interventions and resources they need for a stable, thriving adulthood. In this training, you’ll learn best practices to “change the narrative” about youth and young adults to build stronger support for young people and the providers that serve them. We’ll explore practical tools and guidance that can be used in your organization’s storytelling and messaging, including how to change the narrative that lawmakers use to think and talk about system-impacted young people during the upcoming 2027 Texas Legislative Session.
- Mixer for Momentum Networking Lunch. Join us for a networking lunch to learn about TNOYS’ work and upcoming opportunities to grow your impact.
- Cross-Systems Capacity Conversations. Utilizing lessons learned from youth, young adults, and providers, TNOYS facilitators will lead conversations on improving services for young people experiencing or vulnerable to homelessness, with topics that include cross-systems collaborations among foster care, juvenile justice, education, workforce, health, and commercial sexual exploitation victim/survivor services to prevent homelessness, youth-focused Coordinated Entry, data sharing with HMIS, and more. Too often, young people slip through gaps in support when their needs go unaddressed and when systems are not designed to support them. With support from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, this event will bring together stakeholders from across youth-serving systems to learn, collaborate, and build capacity to better meet the needs of young people who are experiencing or vulnerable to homelessness.
Who Should Attend?
This event is intended for those with lived and/or professional experience in one or more of TNOYS’ seven system areas: child welfare, health and behavioral health, justice, housing and homelessness services, survivor services and preventing/ addressing Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Youth (CSEY), education, and higher education/workforce.
We hope to convene a range of stakeholders from Tyler and surrounding communities, including youth and young adult participants. We encourage you to register and spread the word among your networks.
