2026 ARTISTIC ASSISTANCE 
                  PROJECT DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION


Artistic Assistance provides direct support to individual artists and culture bearers in the US South to enhance their skills, create unique projects, and build community. The program has two funding areas: Professional Development, which opens in the spring, and Project Development, which opens in the fall.


This application is for Artistic Assistance Project Development, which funds community-focused projects and collaborations that reflect our mission. 


Applications close on Monday, October 5, at 11:59 pm ET. Before applying, please review the Program Overview page on our website, which includes detailed information about how to apply, eligibility requirements, and proposal support.

To Apply:

  • Complete the 2026 Artistic Assistance Project Development Application (this form). 
  • Attach Supporting Work Samples and Budget organized as links in a single PDF.  
  • Submit the form electronically; you should receive an email confirmation within a few minutes.
  • Expect a response to your proposal by late November 2026
Application Tips:
  • Begin the application at least a week before the deadline.
  • Read the application all the way through before you begin writing. 
  • Copy the questions into a separate document, craft your answers there, and then copy them back to this form. 
  • Very important: late applications will not be considered for funding and incomplete applications will be evaluated as submitted.

MEMBER ELIGIBILITY

To apply for this program, you must be an individual general or voting member. Organizational membership does not convey membership benefits to individuals.






PROPOSAL DETAILS

Grants range from $500 to $6,000. New members (those who joined between October 5, 2025, and October 5, 2026) are eligible to apply for up to $2,500.






Alternative Format Proposals


If you prefer, you can answer questions 5 and 6 via video or audio rather than through writing. Those submitting alternative formats still need to complete all other sections of the application. Please review the specific requirements for alternative format proposals on our website. 


Alternate format proposals should be included as a link on the Supporting Materials PDF and uploaded in the section below. If you submit an alternative format proposal, please enter “Alternative Format” in questions 5 and 6.

This information helps us acquire grants & resources to further support work within our community and the US South. Individual applicant data (including name) will not be shared, duplicated, or distributed publicly. Additionally, aggregated applicant data will be collected, summarized, and shared in reports to funders and/or the public, without disclosing any personal information.



The following questions help us better understand the financial landscape of the members we serve and give our funders valuable insight into the material impact of grants. The answers you provide will not be provided to our review panel and will not be considered in evaluating your application.
